Anybody care to give a review of Price's card in wallet from Hocus Pocus? I'm interested in the fact that the envelope can be handed out to the spectator.

The Berry Price wallet is very well made. You can do the envelope hand out with any of the “Card in Wallet”… that use the envelope load. You have to prepare the envelopes, so if you are doing it a number of times, you must "doctor" the envelopes ahead of time. It can only be done with a certain type of envelope.

Barry's wallet is very practical, and easy to operate. It is also one of the absolutely most beautifully made, and sophisticated wallets around. You will be very happy with this. It is a collector's item that actually works for the real performer. Couldn't recommend it any higher.

So how is that wallet from a review point of view? Mostly, how is it different/compare to the Predator wallet for example?

The only thing I didn't like about the Barry Price wallet (and the same is true of many card to envelope to wallets) the envelope compartment is accessed via a single zip running down the center of the wallet. I found this very fiddly to reset. Much better, and much rarer is a wallet with a zip running down the center and across one end of the wallet (L shaped) - much easier to reset.

Greetings,
This is, in my opinion, the best card to wallet there is. I've been using this wallet for over a year now, and it's better than any other card to wallet I have owned. The wallet features imported French Moire silk-lined Calfskin with professionally turned corners. Another great feature is that the 100% sure-fire system ensures lightning fast and foolproof instant loading of the signed card each and every time without fumbling! As far as it being hard to reset, I have never had this problem. Once you put the envelope in the wallet a few times it becomes really easy to reset. Just takes a little practice. The wallet also comes with a video explaining some very nice subtleties, and how the wallet works in full detail. Barry Price even performs the card to sealed envelope in a restaurant for real people on the video. You'll see the reaction he gets. When Steve Brooks and Keith Lack came to Hocus Pocus, they came and watched me work at one of my restaurants. They saw the wallet in action, so maybe they will chime in as well. I've been using this wallet 4 nights a week doing restaurants and other shows for the past year. I haven't encountered any problems with the wallet. It still works just like the day I bought it. This is just my opinion about the wallet. I'm not telling anyone to run out and buy it, but it has, and will continue to serve me well for a longtime to come. It is available through Hocus Pocus Magic only. Also, if you're not happy with the wallet you can send it back for a full refund! If you have any questions call the store and ask for me. 1 800 407 4040. Thanks,
Jason London

I remember Bob Cape expressing some concerns about the size of the wallet (it did not fit in his jacket pocket!) and the envelopes (tearing when inserted in the wallet). Anybody cares to comment on this? It's 250 bucks, after all.
Jason, I've sent you a PM about 2 other issues. |

Greetings,
There is nothing wrong with the size of this wallet. It's a standard size gentleman’s wallet. The envelopes do not tear when inserted into the wallet. I've been using this wallet for 2 years now, and have never had an envelope tear on me. We had 150 of these wallets made. Out of those 150, only two have been returned for a refund. Bob was one that did return a wallet to us. I've made a few posts on this wallet and Steve Brooks has a complete review on it. Point is, we have a money back guarantee. If you are not happy with the wallet return it to us (unused) for a full refund. We have only 4 left. When those sell they will not be made available any longer.

Thanks Jason. Could you please also explain us the difference between the HP wallet and the one still sold by Owen Magic? That one also includes the famous Steinmeyer "staple" routine. Thanks

If they are so good, why wouldn't they keep being manufactured like the Mulliuca Wallet?

Hi Guys -
I just bought a Barry Price wallet, and it is lovely. A feature I like about the wallet is the incorporation of a third flap used simply to keep the desired target in an "open" state. A very simple and practical solution. This wallet has a high price, but it is high class. |

I liked the BP wallet so much that I purchased two. I've tried lots of different wallets over the years, some good, some not so good. The BP wallet has been the nicest one I've used so far.

I have a BKM and a Mullica wallet. I do like the sound of a Barry High Price Wallet. That's next on my list.

I never leave home without my Mullica wallet. There's something nice about having a no palm type of "card to wallet" routine available at all times. However, it's hard to beat the reaction by spectators when you pull out their card or ring from a sealed envelope. Barry Price's wallet really makes this sort of routine surefire.

I think the Barry Price Wallet is for special occasions. The Mullica can be used rapid fire with no palming.

I also purchased two of them (I purchase two of everything I use), and it is a good thing I did; Hocus Pocus sold the last wallet today and there is no talk of producing any more.

Well, the Price wallet has been around since 1980. If you are just now finally selling the last one, it only took 24 years to sell them all.
Now you can make a new run and charge $350.00. Gee, I remember when they first came out at only a $100.00. So I bought the Jenning Wallet. I like the zipper that goes around the top and down the side. The main selling point at the time was the new idea of a sealed envelope being opened by the spectator. Maybe the second time around they will make them out of softer leather. The stiff leather is not to my personal liking. |

To each his own, wmhegbli. But for your knowledge, the original Price Wallet you are referring to was a limited run of approximately 50 wallets manufactured and advertised by Barry Price himself in Genii Magazine.
The Hocus Pocus version was manufactured by Barry Price for Hocus Pocus, a little over a year ago. As per our agreement with Mr. Price, the initial run of 100 wallets would be exclusive to Hocus Pocus, along with a performance and explanation video and manuscript including handling techniques and new additions not found in any other advertised version. Barry also stated that the leather used in this run was far superior to that of the original 1980 wallets. Also, $100.00 for a high quality leather wallet in the 1980's does not compare to a $250.00 high quality leather wallet in the 2000s. Prices go up and so do manufacturing costs. |

Since Hocus Pocus has sold the last wallet today, those of you who were smart enough to obtain one while they were available truly have a great piece of magic and a real collectable as well.
I also own one, and wrote a review here: Barry Price Wallet Review :smoke:
