I was at a restaurant once and there was a magician doing the rounds My friend asked him to come up to the table and do some tricks for us. He said he be there shortly. He rocked up and the first thing he did was flick out his wallet and flash fire. I had heard of this approach before and always feared it more shouting at people then getting there attention. As the flame appeared some on from our table jumped back and knocked over a glass of wine. This called a brupt end to his show. Later when I spoke to him he said yeah that happens on ocison.
Please note I think this says more about him as a magician then the tick. Used in the rigth ay I think its great.
Enjoy your magic,
and let others enjoy it as well! |

I've been using my Kapps wallet for at least three years. People love it. There is inherently some danger, but using a little common sense goes a long way. I use lighter fluid, and the wallet will usually work for about two hours. After that it dries out and won't light. I leave it open to let it continue to dry when I get home. I don't have any kids around the house, but if a kid were to pick it up, it's no more dangerous than any other wallet. Some places (nursing homes and schools for example) really frown on them, and I wouldn't do it in a restaurant. But other than that, go for it.

Don't use it near women, who use too much hairspray. The fumes can be highly flammable. Whoosh!!! LOL
I haven't used fire in my show, in over a decade. The looks of concern were enough to make me stop. |

Sometimes in a restaurant a waiter will wheel in a dessert on a cart with flames shooting up 4 feet high.
Doesn't make sense that some one would complain about a fire wallet. I've used mine regularly for years and have had 0 problems. Quite the contrary, I've had great reactions. These extreme views about safety issues and legal issues (coin & money defacing) are starting to sound like political correctness gone wild. Just use common sense.

Thank you all! I now store mine in a aluminium box made for norwegian brown cheese:)
I figured it is not much more unsafe than keeping a Zippo-lighter in your pocket.. But use common sense. |

Personally I think it is a needless prop for restaurant work.
But that is me personally that is just an opinion and it would be fairly stupid to think that should translate to every person in every restaurant situation. If it fits your style use it. Be cautious and smart. Don't use gasoline but lighter fluid. Check before you do with management and all should be just fine.

I wonder if anyone has come up with a simulated Fire Wallet. On stage fire is simulated by a fan blowing red/yellow 'flames' made of light-weight material up into the air, the 'flames' waving about as gravity works to pull them down. It wouldn't work close-up. Or would it?
I won't use flame or matches as I don't want kids even thinking to want to experiment with them.
The presentation makes the magic.

It looks pretty lame on stage.
