I thought a coupe of you might get a kick out of this. America's Got Talent Just Called, and said, One of our producers knows who your are, and we'd love to have you audition for us, when we are in your area'. My answer, "I love Howard Stern, and love the show, but unless your judges are kids, my show isn't for your platform'. It was cool to get that call, though.

Great to be asked. Great to turn such trash down.
I was asked three years running to audition for the Irish language version (Glas Vegas). They didn't get the message the first two times!

Yea, I said, look at my site. Put 4 and 5 year olds in your judge's chairs for a day and I'm in. She laughed, and I quickly gave her a couple of names of people in my area to call, that I thought would get a kick out of it.
Tony, how come you were interested in doing it? |

AND... The show is fake...
Its been proven, talked about.. The winners are no more winners than WWE professional wrestling on cable. |

Well, it's a great, fake show then. I love it. Some fun, talented people go on that show> Dancers, singers, magicians. I think it's a fun variety show.

I love the show too. I also think it’s great for magicians to go on it just to be able to use the credit.
Even if you don’t go far on the show, nobody is going to remember you anyway. It’s a great credit that you can use for a lifetime. “As seen on NBC TV” would be a nice little credit for some. Tom

BGT has asked most of us this side of the pond.
John Kimmons did it, got a standing ovation from the audience and the judges and it was not even shown on the show. The guys that did get shown were the guys who mucked up their routine. |

The sabotage acts to make interesting television. Well done for saying what you did, and for the right reasons.

But, yes the show is rigged and has been discussed on The Magic Café, media and even discussed with past judges and contestants. AGT is as real as WWE professional wrestling. I could provide people that have been on the show and countless comments and link. Its TV. Did you really expect more? http://realitytv.about.com/od/realitytvn......ging.htm |

I do a show, not a three minute speciality bit. They tend to demean the acts - the bloodletting is part of the entertainment. I told them I was a professional, and if they wanted me to perform they would have to pay me. I don't perform for exposure. My few tv appearances haven't got me more gigs. But I think it is great that they sought out Eric - that is a sign that he is on top of his game.

I agree with you guys on a lot of this. That show is predicated on making some entertainers look terrible. I still love watching it, though. I've seen some great entertainers on there, but I've also seen some that make you say, 'Whoa'.

The show's fake. You really expect me to beleive that in all the tens of thousands of people they've trashed not ONE has ever tried to rush the table & wring the judge's neck?
Anyhoo, congrats Zuke. I'd have taken it simply because you probably wouldve been on tv even if you were rejected, and any publicity....
Everybody wants to beleive.....we just help them along.

Yea, Fool, but I Probably have to make though 4 or 5 rounds before I get to the Tv round. That wouldn't of happened. The only way it happens as if they push you through, so they can completely embarrass you on Tv. I get a bigger kick out of just announcing that I turned down Tv, on Facebook, here, and other venues than actually doing the thing. I think the is sometimes better to just walk away from stuff. Try it guys, with your career. It's very liberating and almost adds to your cool factor. Lol. Always be willing to walk away from a gig.

Yeah, I agree about turing stuff down being a good idea sometimes. That's why I turned down playing Jerry Seinfeld on the Seinfeld show. They scrambled and found someone else to play him so it turned out OK for them.

I'm astonished it took them this long to get round to calling you Eric! I get the call every year and so does almost everyone else I know in the business. They line up pro acts and fast track you through the audition process, but tend to only use you if you fit into the 'storylines' they want to tell. I did it once back in the second year and did very well, only to be told they were cutting me from the show. It was three days of unpaid work, but I chalked it up to experience. I wouldn't do it again.

Well, apparently it's the 2nd time they reached out. They said they tried last year, but maybe I missed email, so they called this time. It doesn't seem like a fun experience to me, and I only accept jobs, I think I will enjoy.
