Hey Café!
We just got a big ol' shipment of Sticky Situation in, so I figured I'd work out some new things for it. Basic effect: You pull a piece of chewed gum out of your mouth, STRETCH it into a stick, and then the gum instantly RE-WRAPS itself. Looks like this: http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/4225 And, as you can see, we've updated it with some brand new handlings. (When you get the trick from Penguin, as of today, you also get a new download explaining all these variations.) And if you already own the trick and didn't get it from Penguin, just PM me and I can send you a download of the explanations. No problems there. Why don't more people do this trick? So quick and visual and easy. Seriously, I don't get it. Do people just not know about it? Guess we'll find out in this thread. Thanks all! -Rick |

I haveit and perform it but people these days are so afraid of saliva. A lot of people say "Ewwww", when I would grab the gum from my mouth. Still an awesome trick!
And now that is has been "Laxified" it is that much better! James

Our gum in the UK just seems to have silver paper and the trick look's so much better when there is an outer wrapper, I saw this done somewhere can't remember where but I do know how to do it and it is quite a nice visual.

If Shimshi's doing something fancy at the Wynn, I know he wouldn't want that from his audience. But if Jungle Josh is doing it on the street right outside, that'd probably an ideal reaction for him. But I guess you could avoid any of the grossness if you 1) Pretended to magically spit the chewed gum into your hand. or 2) Pretended to swallow the gum and made it reappear in your hand. Slightly more magical/less gross that way. Just some ideas. Wish I'd included on video. |

I stand by my comment. Xiqual said that he experiences the ewwww with "A lot of people". So, it Is not just one or two people. Rick lax offers great advice for xiqual.

Hey Rick,
Not a knock on the trick at all. It is mindblowing. I think it more about people's ideas these days. I live in Taiwan too where everything is wrapped in plastic to "protect" it from germs. People wear surgical masks constantly. They better not watch that Discovery channel documentary about talking and where our saliva actually goes in conversations! Thanks for the ideas, always great, James Quote: On Oct 29, 2014, ricklaxmagic wrote:

Today this trick is UNDER $5 in the Penguin Cool Box. Though, I'm betting by the time you read this, the day will have passed and you'll be all "What happened to that $5 thing and why is it so much money now??" As happens with the Cool Box/Cafe posts.

My guess is Penguin pretty much breaks even or deals like this and we're basically hoping that you add other items to your cart when you buy it. Or who knows, maybe we're making BILLIONS. Could go either way. Probably not the latter, though.

Rick in the trailer: "Respecting your audience is so important. There are some things that you should do, and somethings that you shouldn't do. They are just unprofessional, like chewing gum."
Would you include "keeping your earphones in when talking to someone"? |
