... "that puzzle me to this day," as mentioned in Book of John, Verse Two, were "a Triumph, a multiple change poker routine, and a Sandwich." Those were the items mentioned on p. 57 of BOJ Verse Two that apparently kept John Mendoza up nights.

The Triumph routine was designed to look like the Vernon version without the strip out. I still remember doing it for him I could tell he was thinking why is this guy doing Triumph for me. It has the face up and face down spread and I shuffled and it looks just like you are ready to do the strip out move and I slowly just squared the deck. This was in the 70's way before there were a thousand variations. It is on my DVD. The poker routine, you start with a nothing hand, to a full house to four tens and a royal flush (no gaffs). The Sandwich was probably some of my cull work. It is one of my favorite moves, I have many variations. Not that many guys were doing the cull at that time so it went by him.
Eddie taught me the cull he never used it in performances that I remember but he showed me the concept. I worked on it for a solid year before I used it at the Forks. |
