This is actually really good. You get a great DVD. taught by Nicholas and the amount of handlings and tips given are ridiculous! Such great value for money. You also recieve a gimmick for the super clean TV handling which I really like. Highly recommended guys!

Hey guys, here is my review:
On/Off On/Off is a super visual and impromptu removal of your pinky finger. This can be performed completely impromptu, with a ring, with two rings or with a simple gimmick. It requires two simple moves that create this amazing illusion. You receive a material to produce an external gimmick which you can use for a TV performance. First on the DVD, Nicholas Lawrence covers the prerequisites to the routine and covers all the moves in detail. He then explains three similar handlings that use just one ring. These routines are completely impromptu because all you need is to be wearing a ring. I really enjoyed Nicholas's step by step instruction, he teaches slowly and in depth, which really helps you learn. Next, Nicholas teaches a really nice handling which requires no ring at all. You just pull your finger off and put it back on. This would be really fun to do when someone shows you the old removal of the thumb trick. The only problem with this handling is that it requires the removal to be quick due to a small discrepancy. I enjoyed this because if you do not wear a ring, you can still perform the effect. A two ring handling is taught as well. Having two identical rings will make the routine more visual and a little less difficult, however in my opinion, this isn't necessary. I feel that the one ring handling is perfect, however some may enjoy this handling more. As usual, very well taught. You also get a nice alternative two ring handling which is so cool, that requires the gimmick provided. It makes the routine so much more visual and clean. This would work great for starting out with the effect because it prevents flashing. You also get another handling with two rings which requires a homemade gimmick which is probably the cleanest handling taught on the DVD. Another great routine is taught called "Ring Slide". This uses the same handling as the standard one ring routine, except instead of a removal, the finger is slid up the palm and back down. I think this would be a great prelude to the actual removal routine. Overall, this DVD really great value. For $30, you get countless handlings and ideas to play with. Nicholas is a clever guy with a lot of great ideas to share. The gimmick you recieve with the DVD allows you to perform a super clean handling of the effect. However, I am super impressed by the one ring impromptu handling. This is completely on the spot and this will freak people out. I am in love with it, quite literally. This is a great investment. 1. I own 'Simpley Harkey' and On/off and in my opinion the handlings are sufficiently different and the teaching on the DVD sufficiently nuanced that I do not believe any special permissions were neccesry although notice to a creator and credit is always nice. I am not a lawyer so this is just an opinion.
2. I really like the trick and and think it looks great in Nicholas's hands. I figure I would get the DVD, learn the technique and be off. I was wrong. I am finding quite diiffic to reliably obtain the finger positions neccesary. It will take physical practice. For some more than others. I will continue to work on it. |

So... if someone put's out a card trick using a double-lift, they better find out who created the double lift & credit them?
Likewise anything using black-art or mirrors, gotta credit the originator? This is getting a little out of hand, (no pun intended). |

ON OFF BY NICHOLAS LAWRENCE 1/25/2015 0 Comments Title: On Off Creator: Nicholas Lawrence Publisher: Sansmind Magic MSRP: $ 30 Skill Level: ALL DVD Run time: 43 minutes Type of effect: Removable finger trick Manufacturer's Write Up: A modern approach to the classic moving finger trick, making it a highly visual and impactful everyday miracle. How accurate is the ad copy? The ad copy kind of lets you in on the fact that you need a ring to perform this effect and then it says "gimmick included" the gimmick included is NOT the ring - obviously it can't be since everyone's ring size is different and the gimmick that IS included is not something that really adds to the cost of the effect. What's in the box? A DVD and a item that allows you to accent the RING should you want it it's not a necessity. Key points: Multiple versions with single ring, double ring, no ring, and gimmick taught thoroughly in the ON OFF project. My thoughts: Very creative, and highly visual - if done correctly this will certainly add a shock value element to your performance. Is it well taught: Yes, for what it is, Nicholas gives you several presentations, camera angles and ideas for this single effect. How are the production values: Shot in HD with multiple angles in the studio, exactly what you'd expect from SANSMIND Overall score: 10/10 You don't like reading? Well watch the video review then: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-mNpUZttmk |

I credit these people, as high profile as they are, taking to me and giving me the time to talk to me and give me advice. they are the reasons I have integrated magic into who I am as a person not what I do. I really do like this trick and I'm keen to see what my friends have to say about it. I'm not keen on the mud slinging of this forum.

I love this, I use the impromptu version quote often.
Just today someone pulled their thumb off at a party, this happens quite a lot when someone finds out your a magician. I say everyone can do that but can you do this, it kills them!

This is great, I've being saying that all along.
It's the impromptu version for me, its so easy to do and I use it all the time. The other versions are great also but I could do this anytime anywhere as long as I have my hands with me! We have it in stock check it out here http://www.saturnmagic.co.uk/new-magic/o......nds.html

I disagree. The main method of on/off IS Goldfinger. Harkey uses his Goldfinger idea to takeoff his finger too, it's a little later in the book.
Sad. But now that Nicholas has been ripped off by Sansmind, maybe he can share the pain. "OH let's all feel bad for Nicholas!" Not even a little bit. Actually, I'm laughing my ass off. James Quote: On Dec 10, 2014, Xcath1 wrote:
