First, I wasn't sure where to put this so please move if need be.
Now me and a friend of mine (my camera man) were out and about the other day shopping for some new effects. Upon entering a magic shop I thought I would pick up a new needle thru arm since I broke mine the other day. Anyways, while talking to the guy at the shop another customer asked if he could see it performed and the guy at the shop managed to shock the &$#@ out of me. I've perfomed this trick for a while now and know the method, but he performed it with no cover and when I asked him if he really put it thru his arm and said no. Now does anybody know were to find this or would care to tell me how this is accomplished? Shoot, even if you know where to find out how to really put a needle thru your arm, anything. It's driving me crazy. Thanks, Twitch |

Jeeze I don't know, a little more description would help. When you say without cover, do you mean you saw the needle enter the skin etc?
I worked on the World of Mirth Midways in the fifties and sixties when a teen. I did most "working acts", walking on glass, fire eating, sword swallowing, bed of nails , human blockhead and yes human pincushion. It was 2o years before I knew there was a way other than actually jabbing the pin thru the skin, then I learned about the "Harry Anderson version". As I said a little more of a description of exactly how it looked would be helpful. Best,John |

In volume two of The Jinx there is a routine called Pain, where he lays out a number of different things, and one of them is how to do the needle through arm without any gimmicks, and without any cover. A volunteer even helps you.

Thanks, I'll look into that volume of Jinx. Sorry if I was a little vague, but yes, a way to perform it with the needle seen going into the arm in plain view. I've been told theres a gimmicked way to do it and then the non gimmick way. but my searchs have turned up nothing.
