Some may have never heard of the brilliant audio artists known as The Firesign Theatre. They had their heydey in the 60s and 70s but they still sound as fresh as ever.

Some brief samples:

There was a time when my friends and I could verbatim repeat entire albums.

When I was a freshman in college in 72, Firesign theater was huge. Everyone quoted lines from it in regular conversation. Love them.

Many many year ago, I was working on the High School production of "Oliver." The man playing Bill Sykes, already 6 something feet tall, would come up behind me in full, (scary) make up with two inch heel boots and quietly say;

"It had been snowing in Santa Barbara ever since the top of the page and I had to shake the corn starch out of my muck-a-lucks as I lifted the heavy obsidian door knocker!"

AND THEN HE'D WALK AWAY! That was his way to indoctrinate people into the Firesign Theater.
"There's no time to lose," I heard her say.
"Catch your dreams before they slip away."
"Dying all the time, lose your dreams and you could lose your mind.
Ain't life unkind?"

They are all funny left-wing comics.

"Everything You Know is Wrong" is one of my faves. Seen the 'Golden Shells dvd? Look who's in the audience at the close-up gallery in the Castle. Philip Procter & David Ossman. Half the gang. Met the whole troupe in the middle '80s. comedy recordings don't sell no more. They were part of my young daze

I recommend their film using Republic Serial footage: "J-Men Forever."
