One thing I try to remind my students is the simple notion that the billiard ball is just a shape. It is just a round shape and nothing more then that. As an artist, I was often told to look past the obvious and break down everything into the most simple of forms. by doing so it opens up doors to creativity.
If we see the billiard ball as just a ball and round shape, then we can look past the obvious and start to create routines of manipulative magic that are far different then the norm. The concept of simplicity can open your eyes to seeing many ways to make a billiard ball act more creative to the audience you are performing for. For example, ask yourself what other shapes are found in nature and culture that are round like a ball? If you think about it, there are so many that come to mind. So who says a manipulative act has to be done with billard balls being billiard balls? the only person limiting you is you yourself. Open your mind to creative thoughts and you will be so surprised at what you can develop. Kyle

I've been thinking along those lines Kyle. I'm looking for clear balls and have found hard acrylic ones. I'd really like ones which bounce though. I'm sure I saw
a transparent contact juggling ball which bounced years ago. Anyone know where to find them? |

Good point Kyle. I've been thinking along the lines of juggling suppliers and the like. In toy shops etc. though it is a bit of a case of striking lucky once in a blue moon though. I recently got very exited when I found 1" diameter bouncy balls in single solid primary colours in Asda.

Aww I know a great source for single color bounce balls in the size of 1 3/4 inch which match the size of my fakini balls. They are bounce balls in solid colors and you can order them from US Toy company. I am sure they have a website online. I have a store 5 miles from my house so I go there and get a bag of them. They last for a decent amount of time and when they get brittle, I just buy more. They are very cheap but they work well for my needs for doing color changes etc.

This is great advice from Kyle, Here's the link I bought mine from. http://www.ustoy.com/cgi-bin/ustoy_cgi.s......p;page=2 Also, a little roughing up with some 220 grit sandpaper removes the shine and makes them grip a little better, (another great Kyle tip!) Cheers!

Woodrat: Thanks for the kind words. My pleasure to help where I can. The US Toy colored bounce balls have worked great for me as a cheap way to add in color and color changes into a billiard ball act. They are also good for the beginner to practice with before deciding if fakinis are right for them.
