Where is the original publishing of the idea of tossing a C/S back and forth from hand to hand while only showing one side of the coin? I think I recall seeing it in Wil Dexter's 101 Magic Tricks.???

Can't help on that but there is another method called "twist" that fakes the display of both sides of a coin

Doc has a few on his DVDs. What I guess your talking about is laying the coin on the hand and in dropping to the other the pinkie just catches it and it flips onto the other hand the same way as shown on the other hand. I do this but only twice. Check out Docs Encyclopaedia of coin sleights dvds for this and more or buy them off me cause I'm selling this set at the moment

I published a method back in the 80's that I have used for quite a while. It also allows a completely controlled heads or tails coin flip... There are several ideas of this type out there.

The Godfather, Vinny Marini uses this move, along with having a controlled heads or tails flip, as Doomo mentions. You might PM Vinny here as to this.
It's not a hard move to learn, and can be quite deceptive once you get it down good.
