Alright I am about to get my indoor (NFPA 1126) and my outdoor (NFPA 1123) pyro licenses in Phoenix, Arizona; also known to have the strictest laws in the country when it comes to pyro. This so far has taken me five years to get this far. The process here is: You have to work under a Phoenix licensed pyrotechnician for a minimum of two years with no less then 8 shows during that time. This pyro then needs to right a letter of recommendation for you along with another letter written by a non family member to basically say that you are sane. Then you are able to take a written test on the NFPA 1123 codes. If you pass you will then go thru an interview process. If all goes well you can get your OUT DOOR license.
To get your indoor license you pretty much have to do the same thing. Now here’s the catch, there is only (1) ONE pyro company in the state of Arizona. I was told when I stated my quest that I would not get a license unless I was born into it or I married into it. So like always I have worked very hard and have managed to make the impossible, possible. So what’s my question you ask? Where can I get insurance? Any input would be great! Thanks, Fitz

I don't know about insurance. But I know what you mean about Arizona. I lived there for years and they have some very tight laws.
Well done.

Check with some of the magazines like Amusement Business, Variety (if it still exists!) and anything else connected with the circus. I think there is one called Circus World. They list underwriters.
Good luck.
