I have been working on incorporating Chuck Hickok's Triple Influence into my presentation, which I find to be a very powerful effect. I like the philosophy of increasing levels of believability, but I am looking for something different than the "influence" with gums and mints.

I do like his concept of visual influence, i.e., colors, however. I have been toying with the idea of utilizing Larry Becker's principle in Tri-Coinetic using different colored envelopes and different objects, namely, a key, a ring and a coin.

Any ideas or comments out there on what to use?

Thanks for your input.

Why don't you want to use the gum and mints?

I have done Triple Influences a few times, and the full works: mints and gums, post cards and the Snipper.

I have to admit that I read this chapter several times to get the concept.

Then I read it a few times more to digest it, especially the mints and gums part of it. I honestly wasn't sure about if the spectators would "swallow" this, telling myself that they aren't that stupid. I tried the Tripple, and it worked great!

What I would advice you to do if you consider it, use six, and not three mints/gums. Use equivoque to remove three of them, and hand these out to some in the audience.

Doing as Chuck Hickok suggests, asking, "Who got the cinnamon flavour,” makes the test very real and trustworthy. It is like giving out a sample chip as in Casino Royale.

You don't have to invent gunpowder again, when it's not necessary.
Give this a try; it works beautifully.

I too wanted to use something else instead of the gum/mints. I settled on something personal to me: matchbooks. I collect matchbooks when I travel so this was a logical piece for me. I simply force one of the books. (There's a bit more to it than that, but I'm sure you can figure out the rest)
