Chris has raised the stakes again with this new incarnation of the 100th Monkey principle! Next to devastating audiences with your powers, you also enable them to speak in tongues. If you perform this for religious audiences, then prepare to be either proclaimed a saint or burned at the stake!

Hey Thirteen Steps -- In Colin McLeod's great book Divine he laments how many laymen have come up to him and said, "I know a magic trick" then proceeded to do a one ahead routine. While it's a great principle and pervades magic, it just seems many, many people know about it now. One Monkey Ahead is my attempt to clean it up so you can even fool people who know one ahead. There is just no way to explain it! Your prediction (or psychic impressions) are placed in a clearly labeled envelope and put aside where you can't touch it (and you never do touch it again). At the end, the spectator himself can get the envelope and open it: your prediction is perfect. If you prefer not to use envelopes, you can write on the backs of labeled index cards. This technique can also be used for 4th dimensional telepathy style routines where audience members think of things and put them in labeled envelopes and you read their minds after that.
I include a lot of different routines with this and I'm sure there will be many more to come. As Luca Volpe wrote, "it opens so many possibilities that it makes you crazy! This is something that will change the way you perform this classic method forever!" |

Ypnoze -- I'm still considering a multi-language version. I appreciate the encouragement!
Steven Conner -- the bonus effects go out 24-48 hours after we get your registration. But since you bought directly from my site, I know you bought it, so we can skip that. They have just been sent -- hope you enjoy them! |

It's fascinating to watch entirely new developements in the field occur. Chris is one of the people truly progressing the Mentalism field with no BS or any tired tweaky re-hashing. It's a privilege to just watch these inventions unfold.

Hey guys,
I will chime in here and post my thoughts. Babel by Chris Philpott. The second release in the 100th Monkey series, and let me tell you,I feel this is worker material. As many of you know, the 100th Monkey has been used to great success by many performers, even on AGT, but I feel that Babel is smarter, more clever, and can be used as a follow up to the original 100th Monkey. Chris goes over 3 routines that you can use for this: 1) Babel, as the name suggests, is causing someone to speak a word in a foreign language, even though that person does not know the foreign language. watch the trailer. This is a great follow up that you can use after perfoming Speechless from the original 100th Monkey, or it can be used on its own. Do you need to know the original to get this? Not exactly, There is a section on the DVD that Chris explains the original 100th Monkey basic method, so you get your history in there, so you don't need to purchase 100th Monkey if you don't want to. 2) One Monkey Ahead this is a great one ahead principle using the 100th Monkey principle at work, in which you can literally perform the one ahead, without its inherent weakness of scrambling the pieces of paper....everything can be out on the open in envelopes, and for example, sports........you write down 2 sports, and seal the envelope that says sports..........then you write down 2 spices and seal that envelope....at the end, they open up the spices envelopes and you correctly divined them, as well as sports....doesnt get any cleaner than that. 3) Person, Place, Thing and Monkey This is great and although uses DR, you don't have to be afraid to use it, since everything is laid out for you for it to work to your advantage. Basically, a person thinks of one of seven places, then something within the place, and you describe the place they are in, with the thing that is in front of them. Very powerful, and perfect for stage work. Reminded me of a Michael Weber effect that is similar, yet very different, using drawing duplications, and also reminded me of Mind Museum by Luke Jermay, in that it seems like you are inside the participants head the whole time. All in all, this is a great follow up to the 100th monkey series, or even to stand on its own. this is my rating system: Original 100th Monkey DVD and principle: 9/10 since you can use it in so many ways Babel DVD and Second release: 9.5/10 I liked 100th monkey, but feel Babel is smarter since the direction that you can take it from the original is priceless......from foreign languages to a very clean one ahead, to a mental journey inside a participants mind....very strong indeed. Thanks Chris. Alex Alejandro

Thank you so much, Alex!
Yes, Babel is a lovely follow-up to Speechless. Actually, in the performance footage with the original 100th Monkey I fade out of one performance because it lead into Babel and I didn't want to show it yet. It seems a perfect book-end to me: first take away their ability to read and then give them the ability to read other languages. And you're right -- it's worth it to check out the trailer here: many people really do believe they've been given the ability to read foreign languages for a few moments. The plot may be new to us magicians, but people know it from the movies and are pre-conditioned to believe it. -Chris |
