I was chatting with Christopher Taylor about his OHM 2, which I will be purchasing tomorrow. I was also inquiring about getting a second Alone 4D as a backup when he mentioned that it has been discontinued since he is making a newer version of Alone 4D called Apogee. It is a wallet pad made in beautiful leather by Tony Miller. It is only 4.5” x 3” when closed that uses a nice new, totally ordinary pen. Alone 4D is a fantastic effect. Making it into a high class leather wallet will be great. Also, it will be using the same type of rec...er used with OHM 2 and Contact, currently sold by Penguin. Apogee will be released in February. Looking forward to it as Christopher Taylor produces first rate, 100% reliable professional effects.

Thanks for the kind words, Michael. Apogee will be released in the new year. Gregory Wilson and Jerome Finley are bata testers, so I am looking forward to some interesting contributions.
All the best, Christopher |

Any update, it is being advertised in Genii. But I did not see it on his web site.

I think it should be released some time in the end of March or beginning of April. I am looking forward to getting it. Alone 4D is terrific and this should even be better.

There was a delay in the manufacture of the leather wallets but they are on their way to me as I type this. Once here, I will still have to do some important stuff like filming directions. At this stage it is looking like some time in April for a release date. All the best, Christopher |

I think you are referring to the solstice wallet which is remarkable.

I have not seen the Genii advertisement but I was made aware of Apogee in an exchange of emails with Christopher Taylor a few months ago. Apogee appears to be the perfect blend of the innocent look of Alone and the power of Solstice. It's smaller size makes it ideal for those of us who don't wear a jacket on a daily basis. I love Solstice but it's larger size seems out of character for a performer dressed casualy. I will defintely be purchasing Apogee as it is perfect for an impromptu "bar/restraunt crowd" setting.

The wallet is only 4.75"x 3" when closed but still has 5 channels like Solstice. The wallet has a small note pad. Like A4D, the secret bits can be removed and put into other locations including a special clipboard for some wonderful stage/parlour routines. The pen is perfectly normal appearing with a metal barrel. The routines possible include ALL of those that can be done with Solstice, ALONE and A4D. There will also be a few new ones included; I've posted an example in Inner Thoughts. Christopher |

Here's another idea:
The Line - Six borrowed items (watch, ring, coin, etc.) are grouped in the centre of a table. State that you will work with the objects guided only by their thoughts so a participant (P) holds the notebook with the items listed. P and performer stand back to back with performer standing at the table. P concentrates on one of the items and places a number beside it on the notebook. M removes one from the centre and places it in front of him on the table. This is repeated creating a line. The order matches. CT |

I have to film some performances and the explanations now. Should take us up to about April 20th to get everything ready. I'll have it up on my site on the "Coming Soon" page as soon as I can so you can get a look at the wallet and pen. Cheers. Christopher |

Looking forward to seeing and buying it. I am sure it will be great, as are your other products.
By the way, what is the meaning of Apogee? Michael

On Mar 19, 2015, The Baldini wrote: Good question. The first difference is the size. Solstice was the first ever device of its kind. It was however, of a size that made it quite formal in appearance and somewhat awkward to handle. Apogee is significantly smaller, as shown in the photo here. The workings are different in that the sensors are significantly more consistent. And the pen is nicer as well. In addition, the unit is transferable to a simple clipboard. For those who really like the larger wallet style of Solstice, I have them on hand and the board can be transferred to the larger wallet. The price point is about $400.
