Tonight, we get to welcome Alan Rorrison to do an At the Table lecture! Some of the stores carrying it is: Hocus Pocus Vanishing Inc Magic World The Magic Emporium MJM Magic Saturn Magic "Alan Rorrison is quite the creative fellow. He has been a creative consultant for both Dynamo and TROY, and has released many hit effects into the magical universe. He thinks outside of the box and his many creations reflect that mindset. In this lecture, Alan will be performing and explaining effects that have never seen print. Not only that, he will spend time talking about the creative process from HIS point of view, and share with you what goes on in his mind when trying to create a new effect. Alan will also talk about creating magic for TV and how that differs from creating for himself and others. So, unpublished work from Alan Rorrison? A talk on creativity from a creative guy? Yes please! Slick Sandwich - A sandwich routine where the spectator throws in 2 jokers into a dribbled deck and catch their own signed card. Misers Monte - A Monte routine where all the controls are done for you with a simple gimmick and you can always win. Broken home 2.0 - The updated broken and restored key that uses a borrowed key and a simple gimmick that can be carried on you any time anywhere. Linked - Take a key off your spectator's key chain and visually link it back on in a second. Trans - A bill transpo that happens in the spectators hands. Quick cap - A signed cap in bottle where only one cap is used and the spectator is left with the bottle. Peter's beer - A self-popping beer or soda bottle. Completely hands off. Money through headphones - Take some headphones and have the spectator hold the cord for you. You then take a banknote and pass it visually through. NOTE: Due to the nature of live events, the trick list may change." |

I tried looking for some video, a preview, or review of this lecture but there's very little information about it. I've never bought an "at the table" lecture. Anyone have any thoughts on how they are? Are there any ways to sample these or get them at a discounted rate to see if you like them? Any relevant information appreciated. Alan is brilliant and I probably will buy, there are just no reviews on the website and no clips from the lecture itself. Obviously, I can just spend the money and see, and I very well might , but wondered if anyone else had any friendly thoughts/tips/reviews/pertinent information or advice

At The Table series is fantastic in general, so I'm sure this is another winner as Alan's work is top notch. |

Hi. I'm going purely from memory here but let me help. I bought the lecture and I'll give you my honest thoughts...
This is a great lecture. Alan has some fantastic ideas and his thinking is just brilliant. Everything is practical and very effective. Slick Sandwich - A sandwich routine where the spectator throws in 2 jokers into a dribbled deck and catch their own signed card. This is an excellent effect and fooled me. It's a great piece for a table demonstration and if you put the effort in to this then I really don't think I've seen a better sandwich. I love sandwiches which are routines and this could easily be thrown in as a phase for an existing routine to close the routine. Misers Monte - A Monte routine where all the controls are done for you with a simple gimmick and you can always win. This is great and it's well worth making up. The kicker ending is like being kicked in the stomach. Broken home 2.0 - The updated broken and restored key that uses a borrowed key and a simple gimmick that can be carried on you any time anywhere. This is seriously clean, it's almost two effects in one. You snap a borrowed key in half which is impressive and then fix it in a flash, your left really clean. The restoration is seriously visual and will kill an audience. Linked - Take a key off your spectator's key chain and visually link it back on in a second. This is great and plays better than it reads. Trans - A bill transpo that happens in the spectators hands. Quick cap - A signed cap in bottle where only one cap is used and the spectator is left with the bottle. It's a cap in bottle with a method your not thinking of. When Alan said you can leave them with it as a souvenir, you really can. Peter's beer - A self-popping beer or soda bottle. Completely hands off. A neat little trick. Money through headphones - Take some headphones and have the spectator hold the cord for you. You then take a banknote and pass it visually through. Wow, this is good. It's like trick photography. If Murphys created a demo video of Alan's effect in action then you'd buy it. They're great. Joel
