A review by Mats Kjellström.
Total Recall by Manuel Llaser. One DVD: Languages: English/Spanish. Duration 80 minutes. Region: NTSC/Region Free. Format: Widescreen 16:9. High Quality video and sound and cover design. Made in Argentina. Magic DVDs/Books with memory stunts are very rare, so when this dvd showed up on the magic map it was almost a sensation for me. Most people dream about a superpower memory, but, most people have "normal" memories, I believe... This Dvd teach you a clever and pretty easy way to do a memory stunt with a borrowed deck of cards, that makes you look like a "savant" with a brain implant from a memory genius. The effect: You borrow a shuffled deck of cards from a spectator (no stooge and no switch). After 30 seconds of memory effort you know the order of the whole deck. You now do several different effects to impress with your super memory. Looks utterly amazing. You will also fool many magicians with these techniques... How can I be a memory guru/savant? You need this DVD, you need a borrowed deck, you need to learn the "secrets" on the dvd, you need to practise. Then you are set to go for great "memory-magic". And, its pretty easy to learn the secrets on this dvd. If you have a normal IQ and a normal memory and basic skills with a deck of cards then you will learn this pretty quick. Nowadays it´s popular with memorized stacks: Mnemonica, Aronsons, Joyal etc, but, you need to learn these stacks before the show and the spectators cannot shuffle the deck. So, TOTAL RECALL has an BIG advantage before pre-memorized stacks stunts. The explanation is crystal clear, you will probably need to watch the dvd several times before you understand the full concept. After watching the DVD - I took me just circa 2 hours to learn this memory act. This is a very convincing way to show your super human skills anywhere you go. Card effects with a borrowed deck is very powerful are my experience. If you want to do a memory act with cards then this is a MUST to take your magic to the next level, sure. I have seen lot of magic videos and Vernets DVD are always a joy to watch. The secret make you laugh because its a pretty easy way to do this, but, it makes you look like you have computer chip in your head. I have only tried this memory act a few times on some friends: They were very impressed. THIS act plays extremely strong for a lay audience... Next year I will perform magic on TV, then I may try this memory act on live TV... I promise, when the word is out about TOTAL RECALL, many magicians will get this DVD. PROS: High power act. Makes you look like a true memory guru. Only 30 dollar for a top notch memory act. CONS: Too many magicians will do this...I prefer to be the only one to do this unique act (egoistic, yes) I gladly had a PDF file on the dvd with text instructions. I give the DVD: 9 out 10. High-class product, sure. HIGHLY Recommended. Vernet is truly a high-end magic company, they understand what´s useful and great in the magic world. http://www.vernetmagic.com/ Argentina. 2014. |

My only concern is... is the English audio track of this DVD is the same like previous Henry Evans Opening Doors DVD? That is, it is quite impossible for non English Speaker to understand? The Opening Doors DVD the English Dialogue is non stop without any pause, no English subtitles unlike EMC series and both magician and audience use the same voice cover make it confuse to everything... well to me at least.
Hope someone can clear my concern.
Most memorable moment - with Maestro Juan Tamariz & Consuelo Lorgia in FISM Busan 2018.

This one is easier to understand since it is mostly just one person talking but it is same dubbing voice with pretty much same rythmn as in Opening doors. So not much breathing room but if you understand english it should be no problem. Dani DaOrtiz covers the basic premise and effects of this in his 2nd penguin lecture.

Horrible dvd. Absolutely horrible. Good luck trying to learn the routine if you don't speak Spanish.

The DVD except for the langauge problem has differents lacks in the explanations where he speaks about things that he hasn't explained... just a little example is given by the numbers used for the memorization... one could understand what these numbers are but I haven't find any explanation on the DVD... or have I missed it?

I could follow the English translation quite well but won't be performing this. You still have to remember some cards and the order, so for me too much to think about for the overall effect.
