It's not that hard, I'm a single parent with a full time job, a new girlfriend and I'm in the process of writing a book myself. Since I picked up TBP I've managed to read 200 pages of that book, read a couple of ebooks by Marc Paul, read the convention book from 2Minds, read part of Dustin Deans new book. All this despite having to spend the best part of a whole day driving home from 2Minds and having to devote some quality time to my girlfriend after a long weekend away. To be fair I actually found TBP pretty hard to put down once I started reading it.

I have to agree that it is a simple and direct book to read, as Looch has a real skill for making a concept clear and concise. This is an eminently easy book to read as it feels quite conversational throughout.

I'm not surprised that people are powering through the book, and I'm certainly not surprised that they are loving it.

Best,

Atlas

I do have to laugh. People go on and on about wanting reviews posted as soon as the book comes out. Someone takes the time to express their opinion and then their integrity is questioned. Thanks for the review Taf. I hope to get mine soon and will post my thoughts.

Hi Stefmagic, yes I have. In fact believe it or not, I have not put it down since receiving it! Its a compelling read, as the more you get into it the more you discover! (Literally) As Atlas has pointed out and myself, it reads as if you were having a conversation with Looch.
It just flows. I guarantee that anyone who has, or will purchase this project will understand what myself, Mark and Atlas has stated. All the best CJ.

The biggest problem I'm having with The Black Project is that I find it hard to put down but at the same time I don't want it to finish. I read the first 150 pages in a single sitting. My money is extremely limited right now and every bit of spare cash I had went on this book and I do not regret buying this book one iota, far from it. My pocket will recover in a matter of weeks but that book will still have a prominent place on my shelf in years to come and I'm pretty sure that some of the items in that book will have a permanent place in my repertoire just as I still use items from Looch's first lecture.

I feel weak & whiny. I have respect for you Mark. By the way, your bend looks awesome.

Looch, this sounds incredible. I will have to crush a lot of soda cans for this one 😳

Haha that's not a normal week Sean but I was still buzzing from 2Minds, Marc Paul was selling his complete works at a bargain basement price and after his incredible lecture I had to soak up the material I didn't already have. TBP just screams READ ME. The hidden effect in the book is the time dilation effect, you open the book and when you close it you find that many hours have mysteriously passed. I did promise myself not to open the book until I've finished writing mine but lacked the will power.

I've had The Black Project for about a week now.
I haven't finished it yet.
But I've read enough to be able to give a view on it for those who are interested in the views of others.

I can't imagine any commercial mentalist (one who gets paid for performing) NOT getting his money back very quickly from the things they will learn in these books.
As for hobbyists (and I don't use that term in any derogatory sense) they will get there return on investment in the form of improved performances and heightened reactions form whoever they perform for.

Bottom line, this book really delivers on the expectations that it's high price tag generates in the minds of potential buyers.

I am about half way through the first book so far. I agree with earlier reviews, very well-written and engaging. And yes, for a collector, the books are beautiful. I'm very pleased so far with my purchase.

I just tried out !@#$ O** on the hardest person in my family to perform for without her knowing the secret (other than my wife)...my 13 year old daughter. She is the one that somehow has a brain that is born to perfect routines on. You know the types I mean...Their mind just jumps logically to the method, even if they don't know the exact mechanics or even if they didn't actually "catch me." They just know. So I perform this as a lark on her at the coffee table, and it worked like a champ. She thought of three places she wanted to visit. I then asked her to select one of those in her mind and think of a something she might see during her visit (paraphrasing specifics for obvious reasons). I then paused a minute, took out a note card and wrote: New Mexico and Desert.

I then asked what she was thinking of, and she said, "I chose New Mexico, and I was imagining a desertish place..." Jeez, it just worked beautifully. And to be honest, I had hard time seeing how this would fly well. This effect has some distinct similarities with another effect from a mentalist we also know and love in an ebook recently released (but was written after Looch's, I'm pretty sure). I won't name the creator or effect because it will give away the method. I had the same thought about that effect as well, so I am going to have to rethink and try this a little more often.

With that said, she did not, however, tell her dad to FO. Which was very fortunate for her.

I am well into reading The Black Project now (I'll be finishing it on holiday next week)

I can only say that my first impressions were correct (as they invariably are) Smile

The book is obviously a delicious piece of craftsmanship and design.
But this is no 'form over function' piece of art.

TBP delivers in bucketfuls on it's promise to provide knock-out mentalism throughout both books.

Easy to read and easy to understand.
There is nothing here that is pie-in-the-sky or unrealistic mentalism.
Every piece is possible, practical and presentable.

The effects are interspersed with case studies and essays covering stuff from how to negotiate bookings all the way to descriptions of events and dealings with the ups annd downs of performing mentalism.

This book is value for money in my opinion, and I can't see how any serious performer of mentalism couldn't make this book pay for itself in a very short time.
Be that financially for those who get paid to perform, or improved performance and a more professional attitude for those who perform for the love of mentalism.
