Hi,
I'm from Europe. Do you know any? For example Tenerife in Canary Islands...weather should be good all year...is it busker friendly? Any other? Gazzo said on Gazzo live 2 that he has friends in Thailand/Cambodia... I have read different opinions..it seems foreign can not do it...do you know anything? |

I don't know about any specific place where it's perfect year-round, and that allows anything like what we do, no.
It's a nomadic occupation, generally. Most buskers work a circuit that suits them weather-wise, and just try to make sure they'll be in nice-weather places by traveling to them during their ideal seasons. I've worked the same place year-round, through freezing cold and super-humid heat, but most buskers I know are pretty much visitors from out of town wherever they work. The money's better, the weather's better, and it's usually just regarded as part of the lifestyle. One of the most fun parts, mind you. Traveling all over the world and seeing new places, and having friends and couches to crash on all around the globe is usually an important part of why they do it. Me, I just do it for the money when I need to. I've got things going on where I live that sort of preclude travel.
'Tis an ill wind that blows no minds.

I never saw any buskers in Tenerife at this time of year, but there were big outdoor events to celebrate Christmas and the Epiphany. It was 22 celsius on one day, but others were rainy and colder.

Hi,
thank you for the info...can you confirm that Tenerife is buskers friendly? (I don't know if you have seen Buskers in Tenerife during other period of the year or you just have been there at this time of the year)... |

Hey buddy,
Tenerife right now is pretty quiet. Warm, Comforatable... but not a lot of folks to play for. If you're after a warm comforatable,.. cheap place, to sit out the winter,.. it's good! Southern France, right now has been over run with Rumanian beggars,.. BIG time. No chance,.. no fun. Now, I'm not sure if I'd take any advise from a guy sitting out a snow storm on the Baltic, but,.. if you're looking to live a little, earn some pesos,.. (emphasizes on 'some'.) and keep warm(!), I'd advise northern Africa. Algeria. Tunisia, Egypt. really,.. don't laugh,.. they're not as un-stable, or un-civilized, as CNN tells the story. ,...the language is tricky, though. Work visual,.. the hat is universal,.. tipping IS common place. As European,.. you're 'special',.. in a nice way. Avoid the tourist ghettos,.. you'll do öK. ,a post card would be nice! friend at heart, gallagher. |

Hi,
thank you for the tip...why you say "..the language is tricky, though..work visual,.." shouldn't I perform for tourist mainly? no low level English speaking tourists there? At what time did you have info that laws allowed for foreign to busk there? Thank you a lot |

Hee-hee,..
I'm not sure how good your Berbisch is,.. French, will get you around,.. but NOT any laughs(!). Visual,.. let the Magic talk. I recommend avoiding tourists, in order to avoid other Buskers,.. in order to avoid restrictions. ,..I find tourists, as well,.. not to be so cool,.. more 'cold', in all honesty; especially, in 2nd World countries. ,..and,.. scared. Playing for 'locals', I find "the best way to go".... anywhere. {now there's a statement, to chew on(!).} Don't forget the Post Card! gallagher |
