Man, I have purchased so much great magic over the years! Making a list is a formidable task.Â
I'll name a few great ones, but not by order of importance or usefulness. I'll just name a few randomly as they come to mind: Twilight Angels (Paul Harris) Cardtoon (Dan Harlan) Dan sold a zillion of these, and we all know why. Because the effect is GREAT! The Awakening (Dan Harlan) I LOVE THIS improvement on the professors nightmare. Dan's brainchild deserves it's own place in the magic hall of fame. Misled (Timothy Wenk) Super Needled Balloon (going waaaaaay back, here) Diminishing Returns (Mike Powers) Holey Terror (Mike Powers) Stash (Dan Harlan) Royal Scam (John Bannon) Lady  Bugd (I use this ALL the time, and it ALWAYS gets a wonderful response) Four Face Assembly (Phil Goldstein) I know a lot of people who hate this and think it sucks, but I get tons of mileage out of it) Double Back ( John Allen) Sankey's Secret Files (Lots and lots of good, useable  magic on these DVD's Killer Key (Sankey) I've carried this on me for YEARS. Wowlet Big Bucks (Danny Archer) My only way of coming close to replacing my beloved "Creative Finance by Dean Tellefson, which can now be gotten NOWHERE on the planet. Rainmaker (With the bills and not the one that pees on you) Eye Exam (Danny Archer) and I use the Paul Harris ending The Art Of Astonishment triple book set ( Paul Harris) there sits a LIFETIME of learnable magic! Aces In Their Faces Stooge Deck (Bill Goldman) Mark Wilson Course In Magic (Let's go waaaaaaaaaay, waaaaaaaaaay back!!) But it got me started with the basics! / Sugar Rush Bend Over Bills Polaroid Money Outdone (What could be more visible than bills changing denominations in your bare hands without the wallet? Melt (Matt Johnson) Michael Close very close DVD's from L&L Vortex (Dan Harlan) The Scoop (Dan Harlan (I reviewed that here on the Café) The Essential Aldo Columbini (Man, these DVD's are worth their weight in gold!) Dan Harlan's Pack Small, Plays Big DVD's. (Do you get the feeling I like Dan's stuff?) Easy To Master Card Miracles (Ammar) Easy To Master Coin Miracles (Ammar) Haunted Doll Torn (Daniel Garcia) Anderson Newspaper tear Chameleon Cards (Dominique DuVivier) (More to come. I'm getting sleepy)
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.

I'm having trouble remembering what my absolute favorites are, but just off the top of my head three that I really enjoyed, in no particular order, are:
1. Subtle Scam by Tommaso Guglielmi: this is a great impromptu version of ACAAN that I really love. 2. Sapphire Collection by Richard Osterlind: Has some really great routines, such as Hands Off (a real stunner), Poor Man's Book Test, and Numeric Vortex, as well as others. I haven't yet finished watching the DVD so I am sure there are more good things to come. 3. Tango Ultimate Coin: I really love it, especially the coins across/winged silver. |

I remember being much younger and watching Cooperfield perform this on national TV and my jaw dropped. This came out before all of the other pen through bill tricks. Anderson's newspaper tear is classic and no one's method is better. I'll have to check at Aldo's DVDs that you recommended as I have not viewed these. You made a great list. |

Ok. I'm back. Last night when I posted, I was pretty fatigued. Had a hard day. Anyway, I'd like to add a few items to my list, if you guys don't mind.
One of the finest effects I've ever purchased is Gaetom Bloom's "Visible Monte". Check out my past posts. Let me add a few more to this list: Headhunter by Bob Farmer (Brilliant, and impossible to figure out because you are several steps ahead from the beginning. Biting Sensations (Meir Yedid) Way cool! Emergency Cash (Steve Shufton) The totally mechanical way this works is pure genius! I've always loved this effect! Pick Pocket Mona (This has natural commercial appeal! Dishonest Abe (Gregory Wilson) Very visual and magical. Fun to do, fun for them to watch. Reflecto Matic knives (I've always thought of this as one that Doug Henning would like to do). Torched and Restored Vanishing Ketchup Bottle (Norm Neilson) I've gotten so much use out of this over the years. Appearing Four Foot Pencil (Kind of troublesome to set up, but worth the time, because of the great visual aspect. I used to open my show with  it. 3-D Paradox (Steve Shufton) Can you get more visual than this? Eye popping is the word! Forever burned into your spectator's brain. Water Bottle Transposition (Very magical and defies the laws of physics in a beautiful way! Bought this one at Abbott's. X oteric Forces (Joshua Jay) Anybody remember this? And Then There Were Four (Goshman) Done this effect hundreds of times over the years, and like Ladybugd, it's always a winner. The Perfect Vanish (Bought this one recently, and it's a stunner! Esoteric Kennedy (I've lost this one, I miss this effect immensely. Locking $2.85 cent trick. Another one that I have misplaced that I miss so very badly. Fly Cards (Aldo Columbini) This is gross, but fun and visual! Gets you away from regular playing cards. Headband Blendo (Samuel Patrick Smith) For kids shows, this one is hard to beat! Shufton's Ultimate Floating Match ( Steve Shufton) I miss this effect SO much! The way Steve has constructed this is delicate, but pretty ingenious! You could not ask for a better floating match, and it is (Or was) available in matchbook and match box version. I have no idea how Steve thinks of these things!! Transporter (Joshua Jay) I know some people don't like this, however I happen to love the effect! Snowstorm (Jay Sankey) As visual as it gets! The Great Detective (Jay Sankey) Visual Magic at it's best! The Slydini Books (Ganson) Many, many years ago I purchased these (and I'm getting sleepy again, so I don't remember the exact title of the books),  but they taught me principals of PURE psychological misdirection and how to be a TRUE magician! I  used what I learned from the books in many, many shows over the years. Static Elevation (Steve Fearson) I wish with all my heart that Steve would make and sell these again. On The Spot DVD's (Gregory Wilson) These and other Gregory Wilson DVD's that I have purchased have ALL been more than worth the money. Kaleidoscope (Sankey) Wonderful effects fill this DVD with more magic for your money! ACE (Richard Sanders) I used to love "Ten" by Sanders, then he topped it with this one! NFW (I agree with anybody who says this is in your face great! Color Collision (David Solomon) The most amazing oil and water with JUMBO cards done in their own hands. Can't be beat! I've used this for years and it's a clear winner. Fire Trapped (as performed by Doug Henning on the "Tonight Show". Very, VERY magical! The Future Foretold (another one that Doug performed on the Tonight Show). Flexible Mirror (I'm on a Doug Henning kick, here, but Doug introduced so many great effects on his TV specials that I immediately went out and bought and was never sorry I did And besides, I'm taking a trip down memory lane, here, tonight. And my eyes  are getting heavy again, so I think I'll go watch the inside of my eyelids for eight hours and hopefully have sweet dreams about great magic. Goodnight.
