No problem at all, Martin. It just so happens that I was watching Paul Draper's Penguin Live lecture on cold reading last night (while I believe a few others were watching something different on Penguin at the same time!). He spoke about his approach when people ask him about serious medical issues during a reading, and without going into the whole thing, he steers people towards medical attention when appropriate. He does not make a disclaimer at that point such as, "I'm saying this based on common sense and not based on my cold reading skills." I think it's a logical approach that isn't reckless, even though the participant might walk away believing that they should see their doctor based on something that was "in the cards." My feeling is that as long as they're going to the doctor, no harm is done. Just to be extra clear, I'm not advocating that readers weave medical information into their readings as if they're accessing that information from some supernatural source.
To your health! |

I have no problem with "readings" per se... It's always about the content of the reading. I don't do them myself, but I can envision me doing them at some point in the future... wait, what am I, psychic or something?
