Really sorry this trick is so old but just stumbled across it on YouTube. It's the one where Derren Brown is performing a small packet card effect with Stephen Merchant, He has two cards that have the words Yes and No on them. It's the usual stunt of spectator trying to guess which card is on the table or held by Derren.
I've seen people are commenting that the trick is from one of Derren's books, which I'm happy to buy just for this trick... However, being a card and sleights person I'm hoping that's what this is and NOT one of those reading the spectators mind, body language, eyes etc... as I'm not in to this psychology side of magic, but loved the quick trick he performed and want to add it to my walk around act.
I don't expect the secret here, but if you could just tell me "gimmick" or "Mind", gimmick if there is sleights, gaff cards involved, or mind if its all in the psychology!
Also could you confirm which book its from?
In case you not seen it here's the video

You need to get hold of something called "decisions" invented by Mozique and marketed/sold by Alakazam Magic. This invention and Derrens routine that you quote are extremely similar - almost identical - though Derren appears to use a slightly different method at the end. However given what you say I think you'll prefer "decisions" because it uses a gaffe and a little sleight of hand (very minimal due to the gaffe) rather than psychology on the spectator. It might be out of production now but contact Alakazam to see if they have a couple left.... moreover I do see one come up on ebay from time to time and (in UK) on "magic week' so look there as well.
Good luck.
