First and foremost you said you are a Christrian chaplain.

Understanding how you use these techniques with both who you are as a performer and a chaplain and the impact of these with your audience should be first.
After your discernment of the purpose and use, will the proper reading tool for you will make itself easily identifiable

As a chaplain, if you are looking for an approach that would not be misperceived as "psychic," you might learn a good approach to Graphology. Frielich's new (2014) book Reading Writing is an excellent and interesting source for getting into that approach.
