"Magical Mathematics" (Chapter 5) has a discussion on the Gilbreath Principle. You can use this link to use the Amazon "Look Inside" feature:

Somewhere, decades ago, I published a strong poker routine based on the Gilbreath principle. I think. Someone might want to do the research.

Thanks, Steve. I'd really forgotten all about those. And, of course, the newbies never knew them in the first place, 'cause they just don't know about the "good stuff"!

There's an old saying "..I've forgotten more than you'll ever know..".

Oh yes, there are some. My recommendations for you to start with are Arthur Mactier: "Card Concepts" and Reinhard Müller: "Gilbreath's Principles". These books are actually the good stuff, so to speak. You get a comprehensive insight how the principle works and what you can do with it.

Is there anyone else beside me that replaced the riffle shuffle in Up The Ante with Lennart Green's Rosetta Shuffle? Especially with new cards a spectator might 'loose' the cards when doing a riffle shuffle and furthermore the Rosetta Shuffle (which can also be found on the Move Zero series from John Bannon) looks way more chaotic in my opinion.
On topic, in some of Simon Aronson's book he also uses and teaches the Gilbreath principle. The nice thing when reading Aronson is that he really delves deep into the theory.
