Todd lassen or Roy kuepper or bag 4 life ect. I guess what you are looking for in a split coin is a gap less coin. I coin that is not too thick, one that separates easily but is still strong enough to get the job done. Todd lassens commercial site has split coins now and I just have a hunch that these might be pretty good. The price is as low as can be.

I haven't tried the Lassen commercial split coins, but I'm guessing they're great.
I do have a Lassen '64 Kennedy split half and it's the best split coin I've ever found. It's looks so good that it's practically examinable. In fact, I think it is examinable it's so well made. The magnet is a little stronger in the Lassen split half than others I've tried, but I think maybe that's a good thing. Robert |

I Bought a Lassen split quarter just for that effect and it works very well. I also added some optically clear Teflon tape to both sides of mine and they slide like butter. ( I use the Teflon on most of my gaffs)

The split Walker Craig uses on the DVD is that gaff from the coin thru bill. (Also the Walker split coin I got from Joe Mogar is a Wong And I love it ). Next split coin was the "Clone Coin" by Merlins of Wakefield? (Late 2006) followed by John Kennedy's "Supercoin" in mid 2007 (his had the strongest magnet for certain applications). If you get a split coin, Bag for Life is only one of many things you can do with it. I highly suggest "Split Happens" for routine ideas.

I have some Kennedy Half $ and English Pennies from Christian Chastain (Roy Kueppers makes them for him), and some from Johnny Wong...
But I just ordered some Quarters and Half Dollars from Todd Lassen's Commercial site! 3 of each! Can't ever have too many in my opinion! Jim |

I'm interested in Todd Lassen's split coins. I have some split coins, but I like them so much that I probably want to buy another one. I have read soemwhere at the Café that Lassen's split coins can almost be examined by a spectator. Can someone tell me how much it cost (here or PM) ? I need half dollar and/or english penny. Thanks.

Evildan,
The history of split coins is explained on Petty's "Split Happens." I believe Johnny Wong invented them in the early 2000's. You have to get this DVD, if you want to advance with the split coin. I do a lot beyond the DVD, but this is an important starting tool. First I got two in half dollars. But lately, I have been blown away with how innocent a quarter split coin looks. There is no heat with these. Call me crazy, but I have routines where I put the split coins (either separated as two, or together as one) in the spectator's hands. I have never been caught or even suspected of anything, nor of using gimmicked coins. For so long I thought the split would be visible to a spectator, so I did not buy them. Now, I would be willing to give an award to the first spectator who detects the seam. Of course I do a tiny bit to keep it hidden, but I am more convinced every day, that I might pass before a spectator ever sees a seam in a split coin, much less suspects there is a gimmick in play. I got my split coins from a co. none of you might know, but the quality is still excellent. |
