Need an advice, anyone order from Jack Murray from Dream Illusions AFTER he closed down his shop last year March?
I just spoke to Jack Murray a while ago, he is still building part time as I need a Konundrum Kube Illusion But I am not sure of his reputation now, it is safe to send $ to him, his time frame of the illusion, his illusion quality after the closing, any shortcut? Any magician order from Jack recently? I asked about this topic on the Magic talk on Facebook, received a couple of negative replied like of someone shut their business N build part time, it would probably take forever to receive a prop, also if they do not have a legitimate business, then there is very little recourse as there is no reputation at stake. Suggesting me to go to a dealer in business now Hence I am confused n need some feedback, many thanks |

A lot of very fine builders only work part-time. I would not let that stop me from ordering from Jack.

Jack has always treated me professionally. That's a quality in the PERSON. I would deal with him without hesitation. Always.

I bought a fire cage from him after Dream Illusions closed down.
From initial contact to delivery , he was very professional and would keep me updated regularly. Don't hesitate. Pull the trigger. The KK is next on my list . -Nadzri |

I wouldn't deal with him. I have heard he has had a few bad incidents with people.

With all due respect, BowerPower. I think if you were the one who had the negative experience then passing along your opinion is justified. Since it appears that isn't the case then perhaps your statement wasn't the best course of action. I don't know Jack Murray from Dream Illusions and have never dealt with him but I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Well I have dealt with him. In past threads that were deleted I stated my experiences with him. The honest expression of these facts in order to help another member make an informed decisison got me an obsene phone message (which my children heard) and several rude emails.
I leave it to you to judge the professionalim of these actions. |

I purchased a Fire Cage from Jack on behalf of The Magic Nook which plans to use it with its Wiz Kid program and convert it into an illusion that can be performed surrounded on a football field or in a gymnasium at performances of the East Orange Unified Marching Band, of whom we are also a sponsor. It arrived today, in good condition, and throughout the process, first Mark of Stevens Magic provided me with constant e-mails - and then the model they sent me got damaged by FedEx, and ultimately "lost"by FedEx! Mark dealt with the insurance wrangling with FedEx, and we ordered the next one directly from Jack, who used another carrier, at which time Jack became our daily correspondent via e-mail to keep us apprised of the progress until the final delivery, which happened today. The problems involved were caused by FedEx, not by Mark of Stevens Magic, nor by Jack Murray of Dream Illusions. The Fire Cage is well designed and engineered to be easily put together. I was almost able to do it myself except for standing it up on its legs, which needed another person for lifting. It is sturdy and solidly constructed and will easily take the modifications we have planned for it to be able to perform it surrounded and produce not one, but two band members in quick succession out in the middle of an arena. It should be ready for rehearsals in time for Spring Band Competitions. Thanks to both Mark Stevens and Jack Murray for making it possible. Next we will be building my old "Litter Vanish" so the Prom Queen can be carried onto the field at one end of the stadium in a Litter carried by drummers. She will vanish from the litter and reappear on the other side of the stadium in the Fire Cage. But Prom Queen time is not until next June, so we have time to get it all done.

Sometimes good things can come from negative things. Jack has reached out to me and we have settled any differences we had. He explained certain things to me and I accept them. Perhaps we have both learned and grown from this.

Looks like he's selling his illusions on eBay now.

It sounds like Paulo was asking questions about an illusion from Jack but he did not give him the work and went elsewhere. I believe he is saying Jack responded with an email that was not very nice since he lost the sale.
