I'm not talking mail order here. Where would you go when you really want to shop?
For me its always been Tannen's. But that was a long time ago. This is 2015.

I second Denny & Lee's in Baltimore! It's exactly what a magic shop should be: dusty, smells funny and is packed full of quality tricks, books, and videos for you to browse through. I could spend days in that store! Great shop run by knowledgeable staff.
I don't know if it's the largest magic inventory, but in my travels, it's the largest magic inventory where any magician off the streets can pop in and spend hours looking through...Something that sadly, all these internet magic retailers can't offer! <cough> Penguin! <cough> |

I third Denny & Lee's! It really is a great shop. When I go there, I always find that they are more interested in having you be happy with your purchase than in just making a quick sale. It's the kind of place where they really know their stuff and you can go in and tell them the type of effect you're looking for and they can tell you how best to do it. It's the type of service that you can never get from an internet site. I strongly recommend this store! It should be on a bucket list for all magicians or anyone even interested at all in magic!

Thanks guys, this is a big help. I was at Denny and Lee's (at least 10 years ago) once and enjoyed my visit. Is the pig still there?
Anyone else?

Ken,
If you haven't been there in a while, you may want to note Denny's newer address: 9004 Yellow Brick Road, Suite H, Baltimore, MD, 21237 (410-686-3914.) He's still on the north side of Baltimore just minutes off 95 & 695. They go way beyond the retail transaction as you get Denny's vast insight into magic & stagecraft which is a huge understated bonus. I can't remember if I saw the pig there last time. Have fun! Denny's is a great place to visit and you're only about 15 or 20 minutes from the magic warehouse which is in my opinion one of the greatest brick-and-mortar stores around. Between the two you'll find everything magic has to offer it's really incredible talking with Denny he's an amazing man who will help you with any question you have. He has real world experience to offer and share.

The great thing is, there are still little out of the way places that have one or two of that obscure old book or effect that you're looking for that the Wal-Magic stores don't have and/or can't be bothered to order/find/keep in stock ...

I'm so disappointed reading this thread as we don't have such thing down here I wish we had shops like this. Large inventory, vintage looking, great stuff and super friendly.
