You might check out Paul Draper's Penguin lecture. I will add, if you have a desire to really learn something thoroughly it can't hurt to get your hands on as many books and other material as you can. Look at it from as many angles as possible. |

This is a site that has been derelict for a number of years, but was pretty popular in its day. Click on Cartomancy in the navigation menu at the top. Those four menu items constitute a fairly complete course on cartomancy.

Just another couple of thoughts, Sychou. Look at the meanings for the cards in the Richard Webster article on Doug's excellent Deceptionary site. By learning the simple principles, the divination of a playing card on the fly becomes simple. If you use a p**k and have them select any card, you can know what it is and give a reading on the PERSON to determine the card.
Example: "Now, you have selected a card and only you know what it is. Playing cards are divided into two colors, red and black. The red cards relate to things we are passionate about and you seem like a very focused and passionate person. Without revealing anything else, would I be right in saying that you are thinking of a red card? Yes. Some people are passionate about money, and we all like money, of course, but I don't really get the vibe from you that live is all about your bank account. You come across to me more as a strongly caring and loyal person. I believe you are more of Heart person. As such, you are drawn to situations where you can be open, creative, and sharing. The card that most describes the vibes I'm getting from you is the Three of Hearts. Will you please tell us all what card you were thinking of?" Of course, you can do this with any card you like or just memorize a reading for a card and f*rce it. Any of the books on card reading that have been discussed here are going to focus on sitting down at a table and telling someone his or her fortune. This can be very entertaining, but it is a bit different from the Q&A format you mention in your first message. Oh, and as an aside to Truman, I don't actually have internet at home at all. I have to carry my computer down the hill to my dad's house when I want to do anything online. Like now. The only provider in the area will only sell me much faster and more expensive internet than I want. Cell reception is almost zero (house got built ahead of schedule because the subcontractors could not check their texts at the work site and had nothing else to do but build the house) so cell-based internet is not a viable option. I probably get a lot more time with my books and family this way, so it is not all bad. -Patrick |

Peter Turner has one in "Scryer's 13" which is a full system (I believe first taught on devils dvd) "Me knowing you" I think it is called. Luke Jermay - make mind reading real there is one on there also. The easiest system is Cartomancy (fortune telling with playing cards) - Not as good as the aforementioned but a great way to start and can be bought on Amazon.

If you know how to read tarot, as said previously, it is so easy to go from one to the other that I suspect you would not ask that question.
If you have never read any card, you might not want to include such a thing into your Q&A before some serious field testing (Paul Voodini, Luke Jermay and others do it in some of their releases but they are familiar with the tool). Regarding cartomancy, you will find many free method on the web. You can also easily use you knowledge of the tarot or numerology A very good source on that exact subject is "Readings and Mentalism with Playing Cards" by C. Dayton, it will give you an easy to learn approach to readings with playing cards (not just the meanings but also how to conduct a reading and how to answer some tricky questions) plus an impromptu act that does include a good open Q&A (no trick here, they ask and you answer using card meanings). |

I didn't start with playing cards. Only way I was using them was around a poker table. I started as many others with Tarot. After a while I felt bored a little bit. I'm still ashamed to admit it and I apologize to all Tarot lovers. So I switched to Lenormand which was refreshing... for a while. But eventually I got bored as well. I still use both Tarot&Lenormand nowadays, I reconciliated with them, I'm speaking here about my development in the past.
This is when I made the jump and decided to dive into the realm of playing cards. I was really not feeling confident at first. What would a 10s mean ? And what about this Jack of clubs ? Contrary to both Tarot and Lenormand, none of those cards were really speaking to me and looking at them wasn't giving me any clue. I could have quit at that moment but for some reasons I decided to held on. Thanks Lord for that ! Nowadays, playing cards are by FAR my favourite divination tool. The difficulty was to go through so many various systems which were all contradictory one with each others. Eventually, with hard work, sweat, and discipline, I reached that point where those cards do talk to me and their message is always clear. It doesn't mean that I don't have to focus on some spreads because some are tougher than some others, but there's always this point where everything unfolds naturally. Playing cards are extremely accurate. Contrary to some beliefs they are VERY WELL suited for matters involving psychology. Tarot has not any monopole on this. Those who think that those cards are too simplistic to handle complex matter are far from the truth. I don't use revesals. There's really to me no need to. The flow of action gives you the way to understand the card so reversals have no place in my readings. I use all the cards. European Cartomancy only use 32 (from Aces to 7s) but to me this is a huge mistake. You deprive yourself from so many meanings and understandings doing so. I don't use Jokers. I see no use of them. No really, I know why people do use them but it doesn't sound right to me. To each his own I guess. On a very simplistic way : - clubs : work - diamonds : money - hearts : feelings - spades : troubles I know that some others readers invert clubs/diamonds but this is how I see them (of course this is not a detailed list, I'm just summing up to the extreme here). I have a serie of articles and videos that might be interesting for some of you who like me love those little cards. Thanks for reading, and see you soon ! Angelo http://www.yourcardreading.com |

I don't often do this, but...
my meta-ph-oracle booklet is easy to understand, there's sample scripts, the meanings and suits are different from any other out there, and the way in which you generate the meanings are straight forward to work with...i also include my take on the breakdown (by decade) of Gail Sheehy's Passages... its my main way of sharing a reading, other than my sketch method...
I've asked to be banned
