Is anyone on the Café going to Kapital Kidvention? I usually go every year, but I missed it last year. I know Eric (aka The Great Zucchini) is one of the speakers.

I live in the area and will be leaving Saturday afternoon for a few hours to do a show, but hope to be there all of the rest of the time.

If you go and spot me, I hope you will introduce yourself.

I've never been to it. What do you guys who have been there think about it, honestly? What is like? Someone said it is more for face painters and balloonists, but I don't know if that's true, not that that's a bad thing. How does it compare to Kidabra?

Hey Larry,

I won't be going, but it was great to see you there a couple of years ago!

There are certainly a lot of face painters and balloon artists, but also a pretty good crop of magicians. Some names from past events: Chris Capehart, David Ginn, Ken Scott, The Great Zucchini, Tim Sonefelt, Barry Mitchell. (I'm sure I'm leaving folks out).

If there is a strong turnout from magicians, it will continue to be a strong convention for kids magicians. I am not affiliated in any manner with this gathering, although Louis Meyer is a friend (and friendly competitor) here in Northern Virginia. I like Kidabra very much, but for me this is a much better deal because it's close to where I live and there are a host of good lecturers (many of whom also lecture at Kidabra).

Larry is right. They have a great lineup of magicians. Oscar Munoz, one of my favorites is coming back to perform. He's always great. Also, Alexandra the Great is doing an escape, from a tank of water, bound by chains It had us on the edge of our seats. It's a great convention and always fun.

Ken, a picture with you will make my day. I've wanted to meet you for some time, now. I'm doing my show, as well Sunday morning, so hopefully you can make that, with lecture to follow.

Ken, you're a class act, and I hope you know it was a thrill to have you there, meet you, grab dinner with you- I had a blast, buddy. Kidvention was a ton of fun, and hope you all can make it next year.

The Great Zucchini was as advertised, and exception children's entertainer---and totally unique! Eric, I was not only impressed with your talent, I was impressed by your humbleness. I enjoyed hanging out too! It was very nice to finally meet Larry Lipman and some other new friends. Shoot, I just realized I never got a chance to meet Michael Messing. Next time I hope.

I attended the first Kapital Kidvention 6 years ago and it was great to see how its grown. Its really become a first class event and I would highly recommend it. To answer Dynamike's question above, its really hard to compare the two. The KK is different because it includes face painters, balloon artists, clowns and ventriloquists. So, in that way the KK is a Children's Entertainers convention while Kidabra is more of a Children's Magician convention. I'd love to meet you too Dynamike!
