Totally pumped for this. Early reports that I've read are just about unanimous that it's at least as good as Breaking Bad.

Guess they forgot to tell Bill Buckley. "...as we reason and love, we are able to hope. And hope enables us to resist those things that would enslave us." |

Yep, really looking forward to it. We'll find out how Saul 'became' Saul. I love that Mike will be in the series.

I have been in the Dominican Republic since thanksgiving working so I have seen and heard nothing. But one of the local stations will carry it!
Being as the premise is already established getting to it should be quick.

Eagerly await!
What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?
My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums. |

(There are many just like him, in fact. Just watch the late-night commercials stirring up litigation (which used to be illegal under champerty and maintenance laws). Back when I began practicing, even advertising law firms on television was prohibited by ethics rules. |

I know. I couldn't resist!
But the things I wrote are exactly why I find Saul to be a very funny character. As Homer Simpson says, "It's so funny because it's true!" |

Sleaze perpetuates all walks of life. Everyone makes fun of lawyers till they need one.
I have known a couple like this. Not only sleaze but dirty. There is a difference. Big difference.

Sure is. But the sleazy ones like Saul are more fun to watch.
As to your first point- I knew a cop once who always criticized me for defending clients who were obviously guilty. Then his son got arrested for dealing drugs and he came straight to my office asking if there was any way that I could get the kid off the hook. |

I hope it is a good series. I was surprised to see the actor in Fargo. Of course, the character there was very different from Saul in most every way.

His father was happy and referred a lot of business to me over the years that followed. Sometimes people don't realize that defense good defense lawyers try to get just results, even when their clients are guilty. I'd say that close to ninety percent of charges end up being resolved through plea bargains. But getting the best plea deals requires that the prosecutor knows through experience that the defense attorney is perfectly willing and able to mount a vigorous defense in a full trial on the merits. Then you get guys like Saul. The ones who plead everyone out and NEVER go go trial. They're usually the same guys who claim to have "never lost a case." (Because they never actually tried one.) They usually get lousy or less than optimal deals for their clients because the prosecutor knows full well that the defense will do anything to avoid a trial. A lot of them also do personal injury work- similarly only taking cases that are sure winners so they can be settled out of court with a minimal amount of effort. It also pays a lot better than low-level criminal defense work. |
