I just read in today's Argentina newspaper that Rene Lavand passed away. He was 86 years old. No other detail is available at this time.
I saw him perform twice in Villa Gesell a beach town outside Buenos Aires

Big loss. He was a great inspiration.
he could captivate an entire audience with only his word and poetic approach.
It's a sad day for the magic world

A broken wand and a sad day. May God grant comfort to his family.

I had the absolute pleasure to see this Great Man perform back in the 1990's. He made his Magic look natural, relaxed and aesthetic...all with sublime storylines. Eric DeCamps was his interpreter. The entire audience of magicians sat in awe...watching what he could do with just his one hand.

You will be missed Mr. Lavand

On behalf of all the members of the Cape Magicians Circle, Cape Town, South Africa.

It is with sadness that we heard of the passing of Rene Lavand, a great magician and a loss to our community.

I met him at the after party following the AMA awards show a few years ago - just the two of us in a room with an interpreter. It was a brief exchange but such an honor to speak him with.

Yes, many of us in the room knew it would be our last time to visit with
Rene in person since he announced it would be his last trip out here.

It was not only great to meet you Andrew but to catch up with Rene as well.
Below is the video of that evening Mr. Zuber.
