Magicians will buy anything!

What is wrong with just a spool of thread?
"Long may magicians fascinate and continue to be fascinated by the mystery potential in a pack of cards."

This is now hitting magic stores......just saw it now for order at MJM: http://www.mjmmagic.com/store/-p-20281.html

I've always enjoyed most of Mark Mason product releases. This one should be perfect for walk around, and I like the yo-yo presentation with the gypsy thread effect.

Any reason you can't do this with just a regular yo-yo? I'm just wondering why this isn't a $5 download instead of a $45 shipped effect. Is it to save me the trouble of going out and buying a yo-yo and some string/yarn? Would this not work with a regular yo-yo?

Looks ok but not as impressive as the description said after watching the trailer. The handling looks nearly the same as Gypsy Balloon by Tony Clark.

This was released yesterday in the UK, just got the Mailshot from Mark Mason.

I don't currently perform Gypsy Thread but I like the look of this, very organic with the Yo Yo and gives some context to the effect and restoration.

I too tried to pick one up from Blackpool but they had sold out by early Saturday.

Received mine today.Wow I love it very easy to perform.
Also very deceptive too.Mark goes over everything in the dvd.
I do cut and restore rope a lot in my shows and this is a good
option to do something different.

Good to hear, Todd. Have had my eye on this but EVP and Gonzo have kept me busy lately! How is the set up on it?

I just got this today. To answer a question above, a regular yoyo could probably be used but only after some extensive work as a DIY project, and you would have to know what you are doing. For one, without giving away the method, regular Duncan Yoyo's that fit the shape for this effect to work are kinda tranparent and that has to be adressed for this method to work. There would be a number of additional steps to turn a regular yoyo into a gimmicked one. Having said that, I guess this yoyo can pass a normal examination, probably not a very detailed one. But I think the heat is more on the thread than the yoyo itslef. I wouldn't be too worried to hand the yoyo out after the effect, especially if the thread is inside the yoyo around its axel as a normal yoyo. As long as you keep the spectactor from looking too closely at it you could get away with it. That is one thing I would have to validate once I start performing with it.

I am glad that this was not a download where I would have had to work quite a bit. I am perfectly happy that it comes all ready to use. Yes it is a 45$ yoyo, but it is worth it in my opinion.

This is one of the better presentations I've seen
with gypsy thread.

It kills. Get it if you love the gypsy thread. I did this last week and went off crazy with everybody. Love it.

What's the overall impressions on this item now?

Looks kinda neat. I may have to spring for this soon. Should I.

I don't want to practice too much. Will I have too?
