What kind of tape should be used to make a tape hinge for the vanishing radio? I was thinking gaff tape. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Gaff tape is the best choice for almost anything.

My Vanishing Radio used all regular but hinges, no tape at all. Gaffer's Tape is made for removal, Bookbinder's Tape would be a better solution, as it is permanent.

If you are attaching the wood together, the tape that will last the longest is not tape at all. Cut strips of heavy cloth or canvas like material. Coat one side with a 50/50 mixture of white glue and water to thin the glue. Spread on the cloth strips or on the wood. Apply and allow to dry. If you can do this on both sides of the pieces and press the valley space together. Some suggest that 2 cloth strip be stitched down the center to create the spine of the cloth hinge. Clean up excess glue before it dries.

I agree with Bill!

Yes, Tony! gaffer's tape is the best choice for "almost anything", but, in the situation that Rhett is concerned with, bookbinder's tape is better.

And, Bill's "technique" for using cloth, glue, and SEWING is even better!

Ok thanks! Il test each method out on pieces of wood and see which works best before I apply it to the trick. Thanks again!
