Recently I have thought about putting out an effect of mine so I want to estimate possible interest.
You ask someone to think of a word. Any word. Asking him what word he had on his mind, you take out from your bag a book. The spectator is been asked to riffle through the book. At first the spectator doesn't notice anything, but soon he realizes that there is something on one of the pages. He stops at that page and looks closely. He discovers that one word is circled in a pencil---his thought-of word! Let me know what you think of it. Yaniv Deautsch |

The premise is great, and since you have performed it, it must work. The only drawback I see is the time consumed by the spectator recognizing the page with the word. I sense you have a method to make the recognition occur sooner than later. Am I correct?

Perhaps a bright pink or blue highlighter pen. That would stand out like a sore thumb when the spectator riffles the pages?

Yaniv,
Did you perform it or is it an idea? |

Sounds powerful.
It is still and idea or you already perform it? The suggestion about the pink highlighter sounds good, and I guess you can work a little bit in the book in order to get the page quickly, have the outlined word on the odd page, etc... I almost can see the face of the people when they see the outlined word! Beautiful. |

Here is what Gregg Tobo had to say about The Wizard Is Dead:
"As with your previous insights offered on the Magic Café, your work with language and suggestion is impeccable. Creating this effect on the participant takes full advantage of the remote nature of the experiment. An excellent contribution to the art,and one which I will jealously guard." Yaniv Deautsch |
