Just curious: do any of you come from or have large families?

My wife is the youngest of six children, while I'm the youngest of three brothers. Both of us are much younger than our siblings.

Just the opposite. No brothers or sisters. No sons or daughters.

I had 5 Brothers. I'm 3rd in line.

I did not get into Magic as a Kid. (Tried but had no clue which way to look).

I'm the youngest of three, and I have one child of my own and three step-children.

But what made me start the thread was remembering I guy I knew in graduate school who had twelve siblings, one of whom had fathered 14 children. His parents had fifty grandchildren, but he had just gotten married. I wonder how many children he has now.

Anyway, I thought a few of you might have an interesting story or two. Ken has five younger siblings, which is kinda cool. A good way to practice magic growing up.

I'm the oldest of two, with two children. My mother, however, had eleven brothers and sisters and my father had twelve, for what it's worth.

I wrote about a gang leader once who was from a family of 23, but his father was from a family of 27. As he explained it, his parents had no central heating and they had to do something to keep warm.

What do you define as a 'large' family?

Well, you're the one that wanted to know if I come from or have a large family. I didn't know how to respond because I didn't know what you considered a large family. Does that offend you?

Four kids in mine, but my dad used to work with, and we used to go camping and fishing with, a family that had 15 or 17 kids. (I can't even remember the exact number). The Adams family.

Some of the things I remember were that they had a huge house, of course, but it was a very old kind of run down farmhouse. They had a really long picnic type table with benches as their kitchen/dining room table. And they also had one in the yard because the ate outside alot. Their grocery bills were enormous. Ten gallons of milk a week or so and stuff like that. He had a good job but they still got help from the church with food donations.

I remember my dad saying that they would get their paychecks and Jack would say something like his entire check was going to buy new shoes for his kids. And he wasn't kidding. I doubt any but the oldest kids ever got new clothes, and even those were probably second hand. Everything else became a hand-me-down.

The age difference between the kids was so great that it was almost like the younger kids weren't even related to the oldest kids. I remember my mom told me that Mrs Adams once told her that for the first 20 years or so of her marriage she really couldn't remember a time when she wasn't pregnant.
