OMG, so glad I got my order for #40 in asap...as I received the incredible manual today. Absorbed all day in this 107 (ONE HUNDRED SEVEN) page manual of ingenius Prof BC creation. Remarkablly creative as well as a simple, yet comprehensive, unique system as is, but also has options and Dopps connections for those who wish to apply to same. And this is not a standard "book test" either, but serves as a mysterious "artifact", unique seance type routine and SPECTATOR-driven reading system. I cannot wait to get the volume itself.
What is most amazing IMHO is the usual over-delivery of service and quality substance in the product and material provided, especially when I consider (how unsatisfactory) the last purchase I made from another "bizarre" effects/props dealer, at the SAME PRICE, with a SIX page typed "manual", 5 1/2 pages of which was backstory, and the accompanying non-book test, "artifact" volume which accompanied it...!

There's an open spot on my bookshelf waiting for #22.

I'm still a little confused as to what the effect is with this book. Is it just giving a reading to the spectator, or is there an effect involved?

It certainly is an effect, just as Dopps or GH*ST or any of my other books. This one revolves around a reading situation, however, and presents a complete reading system which, using this book, allows the *spirit* to communicate directly with the sitter with no intermediation from you, the 'reader'. Imagine, for example, a Tarot reading wherein the spec/sitter somehow begins knowing very accurately what each card will be *before* it is turned over. That is *something* like the effect you get with SPECTRE (though the SPECTRE effect is actually different, this is the feeling it provides; the spec/sitter feels that she is suddenly in direct contact with the communicating force).

Click on the second (2) page of this thread where Vic has posted a full script example of the (very basic) SPECTRE oracle routine. SPECTRE can also be employed in séance situations, mindreading, and one-off effects, all routined and scripted in the performance manual.
