Tons of practical, visual, versatile, powerful effects and moves from that Canadian magician you kinda like, at a price you should kinda love.

Michael Kras’ magic is time-tested, and some of his effects are staples that real-world workers swear by in their repertoires. Explorations of well-known plots as well as relatively uncharted territory await you in this bundle of Kras’ previous releases:

THE DESTINY EFFECT: A deck of cards is presented with a different person’s name written in permanent ink on the back of each card. A freely thought-of card is the only one in the deck with the spectator’s own name written on the back. No forces. No gimmicks. No pre-show work. Just a solid, practical method for a powerful and resonant effect. This detailed manuscript covers how you can make your own Destiny Deck in 30 minutes, as well as multiple handlings for the effect. Perfect for parlour, close up, and walk-around.

THE KRAS CHANGE: This thorough manuscript teaches one of the fastest and most visual colour changes on the market today. A card, protruding from the pack, is merely flicked, causing the face of the card to instantly and visually change. Better yet, it’s a visual change that is actually practical, and surprisingly easy. There’s a reason Michael directly attached his name to this one. Learn the change working pros swear by… one that has been praised by the likes of Dan and Dave Buck, Lee Asher, Aaron Fisher, Tyler Wilson, and more. Bonus handlings and effects included.

INFLATABLE BULLDOGS AND PARADOX FETISHES: This is a collection of four worker’s routines that Michael has used in his work for years. An impromptu, piece by piece torn and restored card; a colour changing deck routine with a compelling premise; a melding of two quarters cleanly into a half dollar in which you end totally clean; and a bold and addictive method for a copper/silver transposition that uses no gimmicks or extra coins.

BONUS EBOOK – THE WEAKNESS: One of Michael’s unreleased pet effects with a diabolically clever method in an old ebook with depressing typos. In a pseudo hypnosis experiment, a spectator’s physical strength is temporarily removed, and he is no longer able to push a single coin across a table with his finger. No magnets or glue, and accomplished with a simple coin gaff that has never been used in this way before.

All of these ebooks separately would be $30, and that's without the bonus ebook.

Your price? $15.00. Yeah. Really.

Hi everyone, Michael Kras very kindly sent me a copy of the Michael Kras bundle to review. Before I asked for a review copy, I did not know Michael Kras nor I had I ever met or spoken to him, even on the magic Café. My reviews are found below.

The Michael Kras bundle:

Within the bundle, you'll receive 4 different pdfs titled The Kras Change, Inflatable Bulldogs and Paradox Fetishes, The Destiny Effect and The Weakness. His PDFs are well-written with plenty of attention to detail, down to the minutiae of finger positioning for preparations leading to a card sleight and even name lists of common American names for the Destiny Effect. The pictures added to the files were also a great help. Michael Kras also has a page of credits at the end of his PDFs where he leaves his email address in case you need help with his effects or if you’d like to inform him of a person he should have credited. Two thumbs up for this.

Below you will find my review of the Kras Change and the Destiny effect. I will follow up within the next few days with a review of the other 2 ebooks.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Kras Change:
The Kras Change starts with Michael revealing that he has been working on this for several years and that this is the update to his previous change titled the Spring Change, spotted in the wild 2 years ago. There is a link right in the introduction to a short youtube video of him doing the change, and he does it beautifully. Adding a link in the ebook to demonstrate the effect is a great idea and I wish more people did this.

The change itself takes a moderate skill level to execute and it is a bit knacky. After practising it for 5 minutes or so however, I was able to get the basics of it down and I'm pretty sure I'll be able to execute it smoothly soon. Is it worth the trouble to learn this move? Definitely. This move leaves a card face up in the deck if you wish which is fantastic as it can then be used as a transposition or for the biddle trick. Michael Kras also added 2 bonus effects in his pdf, showing how he uses the Kras Change. I especially like the application of the Kras Change where it is used to switch a card before it is handed to the spectator to slide into the deck.

I will personally be using this to swap cards and as a reveal in a 'find the aces' routine.

Positives:
Looks great
Gives you the ability to reverse a card in the deck secretly

Negatives:
'Only' a 120 degree safe angle
Slightly knacky

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Destiny Effect:
The Destiny effect is basically an any name on any card mentalism effect. The spectator names a card, you spread through the deck and show that every card has a name on it and the card they named has their name on it. It is surprisingly easily to do however you’ll have to gimmick an entire deck and it only works for the 52 names you write on the back of the cards. Michael has provided several lists of 52 common names according to age groups (I chuckled when I imagined a grandma named Greta) to help you when you construct your gimmicked deck.

The effect is very strong. It would be perfect for parlour shows and I’m considering adding it into my future parlour shows with a bit of tweaking (see below). There are several handlings mentioned in the pdf which you can use depending on the crowd you’re performing for. They range from pretty easy to slightly technical (turno*** p***).

The basic principle of the effect can easily be adapted into what I have in mind. The destiny effect provides a very simple, streamlined way to perform an any name on any xxx. I am not a fan of mentalism tricks with cards and so I would use this with 50 pictures of cities instead of playing cards. For example, I could ask the spectator to pick out their favourite city and it would then be revealed that their name was printed on the back beforehand.

"There are 50 different cities here. Imagine you were to go on a holiday now, which city would you like to go to?" *They pick Tokyo and you place it on the table* "Interesting. You really do seem like the kind of person who enjoys a unique and efficient culture. You like shopping as well don't you? ....... That's why your name is printed on the back".

Besides pictures, you could use 50 emotions (how did you feel yesterday?), 50 pictures of animals or dog breeds etc. I think the Destiny Effect is fantastic and I’m looking forward to adapting it into other effects.

Positives:
An amazing effect
Easily adaptable

Negatives:
You don't end clean
Only works if you know the audience member's name before you start the trick

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My review of his other 2 ebooks will be posted soon. I think the above 2 effects/ebooks are easily worth the $15 asking price which is actually the price of the entire bundle.

Hey Houdini,

There are reviews of some of the standalone ebooks floating around!

Brian Miller's review of The Kras Change: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......um=159&0

Jeff Stone's review of The Kras Change: http://magicreviewed.com/reviews/michael-kras-kras-change/

The Destiny Effect is presented with multiple possible handlings... Some more difficult, others as easy as breathing. I hope this helps!

I finally got a chance to check this PDF bundle out since it landed at Penguin, and I'm impressed enough to want to post here.

For sake of full disclosure, I was familiar with the Destiny Effect and two of the items from IBAPF. But seeing them again really reminded me how Kras really only has put out real workers.

The thing that really impressed me here was The Weakness. I absolutely love the thinking here and the simplicity; it does require a gaff, but it's one you likely already have (and, if you don't, will want to go out and buy after reading).

I won't go into crazy detail on anything, but suffice it to say that this material is well worth checking out (especially at the price point). I've certainly added The Weakness to my repertoire and revived The Destiny Effect from when I used to do it.

(Happy to offer more specific thoughts on anything if someone is still on the fence.)

All the best,
-Chris
