How would you react if you found out that everyone on the planet had the exact same dream about you last night? What if that dream was such a frightening, horrible dream, that no one will tell you what even happened in it? Well, that is the exact subject of the 20 minute short film that I found the other day. It plays out like a very graphic Twilight Zone tale, and is executed brilliantly. However, I think this piece is also a perfect demonstration on why mysteries are always so much better than answers. Throughout the whole film, you are wondering what could have possibly happened in that dream to make everyone act like this. However, at the end, you get a hint on something similar, maybe it is just me, but I felt a little disappointed by that. I enjoyed not knowing. When you see what it might have been, or something similar to it, it just comes off as crass and you think "well, it could have been worse". I know many of you know this, but it is always a good thing to be reminded of; that being that it's always best to leave mystery in our stories. I do a thing in my show where I have a bunch of spoils of war from my past supernatural encounters (my effects) and each one comes with a story. On one of them though, I say, "Now, I acquired this one when I . . . no, I . . . I would rather not deal with this one tonight . . . my scars are still healing . . . Anyway, this other thing . . ." and I move on to the next thing.
Anyway, this movie is graphic and NSFW. You'll see what I mean about preferring the mystery at the end. Enjoy! https://vimeo.com/59773155 |
