The video above says it all. Toxic comments from two X factor judges landed them being sacked for the rear of the series. Joe Irvine has copied one of the judges style, and was flamed down for it. This can relate to magicians and has been an ongoing issue to some. What are your thoughts?

If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

What I don't get is that he dresses like 1,000's of other people, and tries to copyright himself. Haha

Let's be fair to the judging couple - the contestant did not only wear a suit, as the husband does, he also wore a shirt and a tie, and the same number of shoes, and had EXACTLY the same amount of ears and eyes - two of each and just one mouth and one nose. Could he have copied any more?
The only place he failed - he was unable to capture the pompous, self satisfied in your face egotism of Mr Moon. |

It truly (no joke) embarrasses me that anyone cares. Anyone anywhere in the anyworld.
Maybe Tommy is right and we are are all sheep. I'm just trying to figure out the connection between the Rockerfellers and Natalia Kills and Willy Moon (names I only know because they are at the top of my computer screen). The whole video is disgusting. I skipped through the performance to get to the judges. One judge gave a standing ovation. Then came the stupid comments, while the performer rolled around in an attempt to remain pathetically obsequious and charming (neither of which he achieved). Meanwhile, our newly surprisingly-active-member Ian (ever the one to point a finger at other nationalities) writes it off as a Kiwi phenomenon, which it's not. These shows are repulsive in any language or culture, and the judges were predictable as well as repulsive. It's the modern Roman circus. Bring on the gladiators. Bring on the lions. Bring on Cleopatra haircuts and pompadours and tight suits with skinny ties. Bring on Tinto Brass and Bob Guccione. Bring on Jerry Falwell and Kevin Spacey. Bring on Ellusionist and Fender and Dakine and Prada and erectile dysfunction. Bring on anything you want. But please don't tell me I should care. Because I don't, and I won't, and if this is the way the world turns then let it burn. I'm gonna go eat a banana. |

This is why Neil Postman's [/i]Amusing Ourselves to Death: Public Discourse in the Age of Show Business[/i] should be mandatory reading.

What Orwell feared were those who would ban books. What Huxley feared was that there would be no reason to ban a book, for there would be no one who wanted to read one. Orwell feared those who would deprive us of information. Huxley feared those who would give us so much that we would be reduced to passivity and egoism. Orwell feared that the truth would be concealed from us. Huxley feared the truth would be drowned in a sea of irrelevance. Orwell feared we would become a captive culture. Huxley feared we would become a trivial culture, preoccupied with some equivalent of the feelies, the orgy porgy, and the centrifugal bumblepuppy. As Huxley remarked in Brave New World Revisited, the civil libertarians and rationalists who are ever on the alert to oppose tyranny "failed to take into account man's almost infinite appetite for distractions." In 1984, Huxley added, people are controlled by inflicting pain. In Brave New World, they are controlled by inflicting pleasure. In short, Orwell feared that what we hate will ruin us. Huxley feared that what we love will ruin us. As an introduction, here's Postman in 1985. But you really should read the book. Still relevant 30 years on.

I'd never heard of either judge before this incident.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/31902517 Kills - real name Natalia Noemi Cappuccini-Sinclair - is a Bradford-born singer, best known for her 2013 single Saturday Night. Kiwi musician Moon is most famous for his song Yeah Yeah which appeared on an iPod advert. The pair married in 2014. Mediaworks, the owners of the show's broadcaster TV3, confirmed it's sacked the pair. http://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment/mus......ah-video Youtube user Lauren Mulcahy posted a video which she called "Willy Moon and Natalia Kills X-Factor Hypocrisy". It showed Moon's video for his hit Yeah Yeah played alongside a 1972 parody video Prisencolinensinainciusol by Adriano Celentano and Claudia Mori for the Italian TV programme Milleluci. The Italian video was made to show how American English sounded to non-English speakers. The two videos appear to be staggeringly similar visually. http://www.billboard.com/articles/column......analysis The absolute craziest thing at the core of this molten ball of crazy: this ordeal happened on The X Factor, which is a show based around performing cover songs as opposed to original material.

Interesting - I google image searched his wife and there's plenty of pics of her clearly influenced by Nina Hagen, and then a few where Boy George may have provided inspiration.
