Depends on what kind of blindfold you want. I don't perform a blindfold routine because it does not suit me. If I did I would use either a rolled up handkerchief like Anneman suggests or duct tape and half dollars and so on. Neither requires sewing.
I do sew a decent amount and would happily make special items as I needed them, so I am not being lazy. What exactly do you want it to do? Perhaps I can give you a few ideas. Patrick |

I am writing a comedy sightless vision routine.
I am familiar with the routine you are mentioning, but not sure I want to devote the time to use things like duct tape, coins, dough etc, etc, etc. Though now that I am writing it I can see the comedy possibilities. Harris

How examinable do you need it to be? Also, what range of vision do you need? A standard p**k will work with an ungimmicked sleep mask. Sew big black lace around the edges to make it look huge and comical. Hold it to a helper's eyes and they will verify it is opaque.
A metal blindfold could also be very funny. Patrick |

Patrick,
great idea about adapting something I already have. Perhaps adding googly eyes on top, ala the blindfolds on The Ellen show. Thanks for the inspiration.

I like the googly eyes idea! In fact, if you start like it is totally serious and say something like "obviously I can't see anything like this because my eyes are under the impermeable steel" and reach into your pockets to get big googly eyes with glue dots on the back "however, if I had eyes on the outside..." Slap them on.
Now I want a metal blindfold. Patrick |

Perhaps first slap them on your cheeks.
Perhaps first put the Letter I's on. Perhaps put the "Royal We" on Then the googly eyes.

Yep, I think you are better at this sort of thinking than I am! I want to see your routine when you do it!

I have a background in theater, improvisation, radio comedy writing and voice work.
It helps with my magic and vent routine creation and execution. Some of my work is well scripted, while some is created as true ad-libs. Then I work some of the adlibs into routines.

Consider blindfolding Nigel.
Maybe have him use a blindfold with a hole cut out for one of his eyes. |
