I like the look of this for more casual performance conditions (Street) etc and I trust the output of BBM, haven't been dissapointed yet and the after sales support from Liam, Owen etc is first class.
I perform several effects from the Unknown DVD by Mark Bendell (Lee Smith, Gary Jones) and Kickback Tic Tac is great. I can forsee an entire set comprising of Tic Tac and Mint effects ! - How Organic is that ! e.g Card or Bill to Impossible Location - Mint, followed by Kick Back Tic Tac and finish with MoveMint ! |

Got this today. It's a workable method that's easy to carry and certainly organic. The look of the box is ok but shin lim's clearly looks better. The dump works well and you can show box empty but I wouldn't let people stare very long. The card sitting in the box looks way better than it does sitting in the much too big Clarity Box but Clarity Box is much cleaner looking after the dump. The DVD is well shot, although Liam says "perfect" about 30 times. The routine shown is ok but not great IMO. In the routine taught, you visibly load a folded card at the beginning. I think that is overkill and looked sloppy. As for the dump, one method allows the spectator to remove the card from the box but again, to me the handling looked too sloppy. Liam teaches a nice best of boxes as a bonus. Overall, it's a nice project if you are looking for this type of effect. Note: it comes with red and blue Bicycle gimmicks only and mine were very dark in color. I was worried at first but the red looked fine in the box.

Hi all - for the Record, Shin mentions me in the lecture as I designed this gimmick a long time before.
The advantage of my box is the larger label allowing for a larger 'folded card' and also some of the handlings and subtleties on the dvd which I have thought about over the last couple of years, which allow 360 degree veiwing. You get a seoncd label to make up anbother box if you wanted. emyers99 - thank you for buying it, I relly hope you ca take it somewherein your act. The reason you load the card into the box at the start is the box, with tic tacs, is a tic tac box. - you place the card in as an after thought. If you come out with the card in the box - that is a strange thing, and then questions everything. (I explain all this on the dvd) I am sorry you found it some areas sloppy and appreciate the feedback. |

I've got this and I really like it. If you are after a clear card to impossible location box and like me, felt the perspex ones wouldnt really fit your style, then I cant see how you'd possibly be dissapointed. The dvd is well shot and explains everything you need to know. As far as I am cocnerned, whilst very simple, this represents the best box of its kind. The fact you get an additional label to (with a very small purchase) make up a spare is a very nice touch as the way it's designed means it'll last a very long time.

Here is a review of mINt which shows the routine I use.
I am very pleased they understand the structure of my routine, why certain larts are in it, in terms of what I say and what I do. https://youtu.be/Nz2TiHcin80 |

Just to add, Kick Back Tic Tac will also work with this and for those who have it there is a little extra surprice with it as well so could incorporate 3 effect's going on with this mint box. This has also got me now watching Cameron Francis's FRESH MINT,not to be forgotton this is a real Gem and the mentalism idea's are great on here ,plus sometimes getting something new makes you want to go back to previous stuff that will connect and possibly work together so I am now taking a closer look and refining a few thing's.

Got it today, knew what it was (Steve is a friend and a friend of mine was playing with a similar idea).
It's brilliant! Biased opinion aside, it truly is incredible, DVD is good (good fun to watch), perfect length and Steve REALLY thought this out! From the lid to the way the tictacs should be standing in the box, he truly has worked this. I'll be keeping this in my pocket until I realise which one of the effects I want to be performing (don't do many cards anymore), might use it with a billet but my business card is mostly dark. Get this, it's truly incredible! |

Wow! thank you both so much, it's really incredbiel to hear good things about it.
I have faith in it as I've worked it and I think that comes accross in the fine detail I have put into it. My first real release so this seriously means the world to me. |

Mint – Steve Rowe
Product description : Another card to box ! For the people already complaining about "How many box do we need ?", I will answer "As many as possible" ! Having a lot of options is always great so you will have the choice of which one suits you the best. This one is disguised into a mint box, the one you use to see tic tac inside. Pretty organic but a few limitations in my opinion, let's go ! Price and where to buy it : This is sold at $34.95 and you can find it in nearly every Murphy's partner shop ! What you get : You get a big DVD case with inside the DVD which is very well shot, as with every BigBlindMedia release, and you get to learn what you have to learn. You also receive a gimmicked mint box, a gimmick, stickers to make the gimmick either in red bicycle or blue as well as a spare label. Everything is well made and should last a long time. Teaser : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmTgDUQJG4c The pros and the cons : Here is the core of my review, let's begin with the cons, as I will usually be doing, I prefer to keep the good things for the end. THE CONS : They had to redesign the label in order to make the trick possible. This has 2 major cons I think. One is that people won't recognize the brand since it is not a real one. Maybe I'm overthinking on this but still, it bothers me a little bit. The second one being the fact the label takes almost 60 to 70% of the face ! If we could compare this to the clarity box, the label was very small compared to the size of the box. Here people are used to see tic tac boxes and the label is quite big compared to a regular box. The way they choose the "shape" of the gimmick, it could flash a little bit when tiping out the card from the box. I don't know if it's a defective unit that I got but sometimes, the gimmick does not line up perfectly. The box is not examinable. I know there is a huge debate among magicians right now, I personnaly prefer to be able to hand the box out at the end. I wish they included more gimmicks because here, you're limited to using a red, blue or maybe a blank card but nothing else.. You will have to buy more online in order to be able to perform a routine with a bill or your business card. THE PROS : It's organic, it's not considered as a prop by layments so it's very cool ! You can casually put the box on the table and without real justification, put a card inside without the spectators thinking "What the **** is he doing ?". It's not very expensive compared to a lot of boxes on the market right now and when you see the time and efforts that have been put into this, you really feel you got a finished product where everything has been thought ! Everything is self contained which is very nice, all the things are built in the box so it's a pack small play big ! The quality of the gimmick is amazing, you really don't feel ripped off. It's very versatile because you can switch gimmick very easily without having to go to your desk and put out your tape, your scissors and all the suff. The retention of vision with the tic tac inside is very very cool, I always found nice to have something else in the box which will fall out at the same time as the card. Very nice ! Overall rating : If the limitations stated above don't bother you, you really won't feel disappointed with this box. I find it very cool, you can't deny a lot of work has been put into this, 3/4 hearts ! As for the difficulty level, you will have to know how to do a control and a mercury fold but nothing very difficult, 3/5 stars. Similar products : Cameron Francis has a similar trick some years ago and of course very clear box on the market, 360, mystery solved, clarity box and so on ! Thanks to Murphys Magic for sending me this product !

Nice reveiw Alex ,just a few solutions to some of your point's of view ,hope you do not mind
Put a card inside without the spectators thinking "What the **** is he doing ?". You can do the routine another way without puting a card in the box. The way they choose the "shape" of the gimmick, it could flash a little bit when tiping out the card from the box. I don't know if it's a defective unit that I got but sometimes, the gimmick does not line up perfectly. Put a real card face on the gimmick, looks much better. The second one being the fact the label takes almost 60 to 70% of the face ! If we could compare this to the clarity box, the label was very small compared to the size of the box. Here people are used to see tic tac boxes and the label is quite big compared to a regular box. Label takes almost 60 to 70% of the face !.Not a lot could realy be done it is a much smaller box then the clarity label any smaller just could not work. I wish they included more gimmicks because here, you're limited to using a red, blue or maybe a blank card but nothing else.. You will have to buy more online in order to be able to perform a routine with a bill or your business card. Extra gimmicks are very easy to make with card and a little stronger certain thing will make it better for alignment cost £2.00 and I can make up to 8 different gimmick's the rest of the stuff we all have in our house ,all the art n craft we have to do,lol, plus anyone ask's you got these mints out of a pound shop,no one ever ask's too blown away with how the hell their signed card got in there. |

I hesitate to post this comment here as I don't wish to hijack the thread but it may be of interest to some.
First, I don't own Mint. However, I do own many of the clear card boxes currently on the market. I recently picked up a used version of FOB by David Penn and it has become my favorite clear box for the following reasons: 1. It is quite small, in fact the smallest box of it's type that I am aware of. 2. It is intended to be carried on your keychain (hence the name) so you basically always have it with you and it takes up virtually no additional pocket space. 3. I like the premise of apparently carrying a "lucky card" with you. It makes sense in the context of the routine and provides you with a logical reason to carry the card, instead of having it simply because its part of the trick. 4. It looks like a small keychain photo holder. The other clear boxes look very "proppy" to me with the exception of Mark Southworth's "The Box". As a hobbyist I feel weird bringing out a cute box with a card in it. If you're doing a paid gig then this isn't an issue. I realize that this is not an issue with Mint however. 5. I find it easy to do yet very deceptive. Some others feel the switch "move" looks unnatural but IMO this is thinking like a magician. In the real world nobody notices or cares, their attention is totally on the card. 6. The spec can remove the card after you get it started for them and unfold it themselves. 7. The box can be examined at the end if you so desire. 8. There are no angle issues and the card inside is actually a genuine playing card, not a reasonable facsimile. Plus, it is fairly easy to change to other card designs or bills, etc. 9. Finally, the reset is easy and quick. Now having said all that, I may still pick up Mint as well. I have unintentionally become somewhat of a box collector at this point, and I put off getting FOB because I didn't think it would better anything I already owned, so sometimes you just never know for sure until you actually try it and see. |
