I saw the movie Inception years ago and find it very inspiring for my mentalism act presentation.
Which movie do you consider a must for mentalist? Thanks. |

There's already a lengthy thread on this:
http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=15 Here's what I said in that thread: --- Sticking to movies related to mentalism, and in addition to NIGHTMARE ALLEY and THE GREAT BUCK HOWARD, may I suggest... HANUSSEN(1955) HANUSSEN (1988) INVINCIBLE (2001) Of the preceding films, all of which deal with the man known as "Hitler's Astrologer", I have only seen INVINCIBLE with Tim Roth, which was okay. If you wish to consider TV movies... COLUMBO: NOW YOU SEE HIM (1976) Jack Cassidy (hmm any relation to...?) plays the murderer: a magician who uses a m******* o** mentalism effect to help establish his alibi. MURDER BY NATURAL CAUSES (1979) Hal Holbrook plays a mentalist whose wife wants to kill him! I saw this when it first aired on television but I don't remember much about it. It did receive a lot of critical acclaim. COLUMBO GOES TO THE GUILLOTINE (1989) A magician who has made a name for himself by exposing phoney psychics is murdered by a mentalist who is trying to con the US government with his remote viewing claims. Lt. Columbo pursues the killer, learning some of the tricks of the trade along the way and ultimately duplicating the remote viewing effect. The action takes place at "The Anneman Institute"(sic). JONATHAN CREEK: THE SEER OF THE SANDS (2004) This is a UK series whose title character is an illusion designer who also solves impossible crimes. This one includes a nice prediction effect for the next time you perform at the beach! |

Both give good interpretations of what a person with psychic abilities would experience. And, of course, "Scanners," for a good example of what your audiences should experience. (Boom!) |
