5" linking rings made by Royal always served me well. I had, and later sold a set of "Ninja Rings" which "I" didn't feel were that much better for the price.

The penguin set looks to be great bargain, anyone here ever used these. I would like to know what you think of quality etc.

Until you can find some get the royals as stated above.
i thought shoot was still selling the gold ones new but perhaps no more. the nickle rings haven't been made for a while. don't confuse the shoot ogawa ninja rings with the ones sold with the ninja+ set. they are not the same at all. I actually like the Royal rings. they aren't as good but the feel is very close. the finish will chip and the edges on the k** are not as smooth. Other than that... a pretty close match for $10 or so. Given that, I still wouldn't even sell my spare set of real ninja's unless the rate was disgustingly high.

I was at a Shoot lecture a few weeks back. He still sells the gold set of Ninja Rings. I believe the price is $100.00 and includes a DVD.

You could do what I did and find a metalworker and have a set made up for you.

This is one of the sets I had made for me. They look deceptively thicker than they really are and they ring beautifully.

Was it difficult finding a metalworker to do it for you? About how much did he charge you?

I had very specific things I wanted done with my set. These allow me to do moves like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PXSqYOSDs8 Depending on the person you find, they'll charge you their hourly rate. That could be $50/hr or $200/hr, depends on who you go to. |

I have the Shoot Ogawa's Ninja Rings with me for over 6 years and they are still in perfect condition. His rings were built to last a life time. I have the silver ones. I regret not buying the gold ones.
