Here is a review from Vanish Magazine.
"Overall this is an extremely practical and original method for bending a coin. The fact it uses ordinary coins and the bent coin is signed makes this a fantastic routine for any walk-about condition. " Paul Romhany, *Reviews Vanish Magazine 5/21/2015 |

No offense to Steven X. Check out Wizard Product Reviews 0% and 2% ratings on this. And why. Very revealing...

Honestly, the WPR seemed to spend most of their criticism on items related to the DVD, itself. Production quality, no non-studio performance. I was a bit distracted with other business as I was watching the WPR review, so maybe I missed the bulk of other kinds of criticism. But this product seems to be getting some positive press, as well.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

He thinks his product is the best and I think my product is the best. Personally, I like my bend because there is NO MISDIRECTION REQUIRED. I don't like the idea of misdirecting my spectators while others around me see what I'm doing. Then I go do this same effect for someone else when they just saw how it was done. Also, people like to record everything with their phones these days. Once they play the other signed bends back, you are busted. X Coin Bend allows you to produce a signed coin bend, smoothly with no suspicious moves and NO MISDIRECTION. There are 7 different methods taught on the DVD and you won't break the bank at $19.95 VS. $120 or $500 for other signed bends. Steven X |

Warning: I feel so bad writing this review as the majority of my reviews are positive. I have no grudge against Steven or his work, this is just my humble opinion on this DVD. Here are my thoughts:
X Coin Bend is a DVD on a signed coin bend from the mind of Steven X. It teaches 7 ways to bend a coin using the same concept to achieve them all. The method for this is pretty stupid. People can't really be behind you, and in my opinion, this is just overthinking the effect when a simple shuttle pass can do the same thing. It is deceptive and I don't like sounding this harsh about a product, but I really got nothing out of this method. It relies on a clever concealment of the bent coin, which means no one can really be behind you. Some other gimmicked methods are taught as well, which are just as crap. So nothing very spectacularly new or clever, just a small idea that has had every bit of 'juice' squeezed out and poured into a crappy DVD. Don't want to sound harsh, but that is my honest opinion on this product. The DVD was produced badly too. It really looked shocking, the lighting was terrible and the teaching wasn't up to par. The camera was out of focus a lot, and it was just painful to watch. Look, I hate being so negative about a product, because I usually try my best to showcase the positives of a product, rather than its minuses. But I honestly got nothing out of this product. My honest opinion regarding this product is skip over it, pick up either Benz by Sean Fields and learn the shuttle pass, or pick up a coin bending effect such as Coinvexed by David Penn or Spun by Morgan Strebler. I wish I could recommend this, but I really can't see anyone getting something workable out of it. 0/10

Here is a review by Jeff Stone
X Coin Bend Review: Final Thoughts status gem "All of the versions use one common principle which I would say is a new thing in coin magic. This new thing is what allows you to hide the bent coin in plain sight. It's very simple, very clever and will work for everyone. Secondly, each variation consists of a way to secretly switch the non-bent (often borrowed) coin for the bent coin. And each variation also consists of a way to secretly ditch/hide the non-bent (often borrowed) coin. The switching and hiding part is what varies in each version. Some methods (only one or two version) require that expensive gimmicked coin while others do not. Just the plain non-gimmicked versions are super clean as is. Frankly I see no need to introduce the gimmicked coin versions. The real gem of this set is the secret method of hiding the bent coin. If you are looking to add a bent coin effect to your repertoire, this is one of the best methods I've seen for using pre-bent coins. If you already do a coin bend using pre-bent coins, then this is also for you because the method for concealing the pre-bent coin will definitely improve your current handling". Jeff Stone |
