Hello, I have seen somewhere on the forum "52magic.net" discussed. If I remember correctly, everything is so cheap because they are knock offs? Was that correct? If that's true, I was wondering if anybody has experience with the "Pop-up Performers Case/Table" that they are selling for $100 less than anywhere else. Is it good quality? Any help would be appreciated, as I am looking for something that is affordable before I start down the path of making my own. Thanks again!

Not everything from China is a knockoff, just the props they copy are.
That table may from China, imported by Mak-Magic from someplace in the world. It has some stability issues, so you may have to do some stabilizing of the extension leg. Also note, nowhere on their website do they say, that the table listed is the one Mak-Magic is selling. That is your assumption, because they look similar and they use the "stock" demo video. Magic Dealers are just to lazy to post the actual pictures and videos of their actual products. So you are only assuming they are the same product. Please note on 52magic, they show an all silver model and the read and black model. I would think they may not be selling the red and black model, but the silver one. This table is only good for light weight items, like balls, thimbles, canes, silks, etc. It is only 5 inches deep inside so it will not hold a lot. Just look at the consumer products sold in the U.S., all are made in China, Taiwan, Korea, etc. Nothing is made in the U.S. any longer when it is mass produced. |

I agree with Bill on "Not everything from China is a knockoff, just the props they copy are."
I am for the originals. However, China (52magic) do produce a lot of very high quality magic props. I can't speak for everything they make as I do not own the knockoffs, etc. I do not know who created the Folding Tables and if ever there was a rights held by one creator only. I have made purchases of two folding tables here - http://www.52magic.net/catalog_47.html My friend who sells them told me that they are very high quality and sturdy for its weight, size and use of prop. When my tables arrive I will let you know what I think about them. The price is really a win though. Compared to the ones sold in America. |

I have, and have used the "original" table of this type. It was made in Russia, I believe, and I bought mine from my friend,George Schindler, about 10 years ago. It is very well made, and has "held up" well.
It is not meant for heavy props! I have a small case about 12" x 8" x 3", that I use for small props like silks, balls, rope, cards, etc. and, it works fine for such.
