I have been trying, without success, to find Steve Taylor's current website and products page. On his "old" site, it gives a link to go to for purchasing his kid show effects, but it's a dead end. In a recent issue of The Linking Ring, his ad for Library Show Super Hero effects gives the URL SteveTaylorProducts.com... but upon going there, the URL changes to stevetaylorpro.magix.net/products/ and the page refuses to load. This has been happening for a couple of weeks now.

Does anyone know what's going on with Steve and/or his website? With this year's "Superhero" theme for library shows, I wanted to check out his products. Help!

Just went to stevetaylorproducts.com and loaded perfectly, no problems. It did direct to the second link you mentioned, but loaded without delay.

OK, so I thought perhaps something in my browser was causing the webpage to not load properly. So I tried the URL with Firefox, and got the message "The server at stevetaylorpro.magix.net is taking too long to respond." I then tried the URL in Chrome, and received the message, "This webpage is not available." I tried it in the Maxthon browser, and got the message, "Unable to connect to the webpage." My firewall is working properly and not rejecting the webpage connection...

I'm at a loss. Any suggestions?

Hey Ted, I just highlighted the URL in Steve's post, right clicked it and selected 'go to ....' from the options and it opened fine. Weird that it's not opening on any of your browsers. I'm guessing there must have just been an issue with the site when you were trying. Give it another go and if you get a weird message try refreshing your page.

Thanks, guys, for your responses. I'm guessing that there's some little thing, somewhere, that's causing all 4 of my browsers not to load Steve Taylor's web page. However, I can go to any other web pages successfully - this has been the case for months. So I will try digging around to find what anomaly is causing my browsers to refuse to connect to the web page. To be sure, I have the habit of clearing my browser cache each day, so I'm not going back to a cached website. Wish me luck... but if anyone has any helpful advice, it would be appreciated!

Oh, one more thing... if any see the web page at http://www.stevetaylorpro.com/effects.htm, that is NOT the correct page... see the line under his photo with the new website (underlined & yellow)... That new one is where I am trying to go.

Steve:

The page you suggested, http://stevetaylorpro.com/page4.htm, is the OLD page. If you look carefully, right under the upper left banner, it says: "Please Visit Our New Website by Clicking HERE". Furthermore, on the page you mentioned, if you click on the link "Magic Effects", you will notice that THAT web page says "Items not for sale here any longer. Please visit our new product website at www.SteveTaylorProducts.com" It is THIS new web site that I'm trying to get to!

Thanks for reading and responding to my dilemma, though!

Hi Steve -

That is his old site, I think. If you go to the home page of the old site, http://www.stevetaylorpro.com/ ,

there is a link to his new site, which is http://www.stevetaylor.com/

You can get to his (new) products website through the link on the homepage at this url ( http://www.stevetaylor.com/ ), which doesn't seem to re-direct you to a different url. Just to a different section of that same website. Ted, are you able to access the www.stevetaylor.com website?

His new products website seems to exist at 2 or 3 urls, which also include:

www.stevetaylorproducts.com

http://stevetaylorpro.magix.net/products/

Donald:

Thanks for chiming in. You are correct about the multiple URLs & websites... I'd like to add, though, that none of the "new" links will take me to an actual web page. I'm puzzled as to why, with current kidshow effects available, Steve doesn't seem to be aware that his site may be down... unless there's some other problem.

Frustrating!

Thanks for chiming in, Steve Smile

I'm wondering if your computer is blocking some of the graphics / website creation software that Steve's site uses? It says at the bottom of his new site that it was created using: http://www.xara.com

(It also appears that "Magix", which is part of one of Steve's urls, is affiliated with that url.)

Ted, Steve Taylor here. Sorry for all of the trouble. It's nothing personal! Let me know what you're interested in and I'll screen capture the items and email it directly to you. Then, I can always invoice you directly on paypal (and even thrown in a little discount for your trouble). Thanks again for your patience. Steve (stevetaylorpro@gmail.com)

Stevetaylorpro.magix.net/products/ also loaded for me with no problem.

It has to be something on your computer.

I have Norton 360 on my computer and Norton has additional apps that fix computer problems on the computer and in the registry

Hmmm.... just received spam or virus or something.... Not sure because I didn't open it. It was from 'Steve Taylor'. I know it isn't, but I looked on the other addresses and many other magicians.... Hmmmmm.... Looks like an email list of computer has been hacked to gain performers email addresses....

I got it, too, and just deleted it. I could tell right away that it wasn't from Steve, because it came from the wrong email address, it had an odd subject line, it was addressed to multiple people, and it had odd contents (never trust an email that is just a random click-able link).

It's likely that his email list was compromised at some time (someone or some program hacked into his email account -- maybe not even recently), and there is a virus program just using that information. It's happened to me, even though I had a pretty good password.
