I thought I would start a thread to discuss your favorite (or most essential) utility devices. So, let me know what you think are the best utility devices on the market!

Let me jump in with the most obvious choice. The TT. I always have mine with me.

The topit, or my sleeves. Ideally, both together.

I don't know if the Raven is a utility device or not, but the Holdout is. That used to be my favorite. I like the Rice Palmo as well. The TT is a standard. Looking over my vast collection (finally recovered! 100%!), each device has a purpose. Like the Raven. The one device I miss, and worked flawlessly, was my Kirkendall Utility Reel. I know Owen makes one, but I am spoiled. I'll find another Kirkendall.
IT is a device I use for different things. Mostly animation/levitation. But it can be used to remotely trigger things. Nuff said. M@gnets. Chazpro puts out a whole book on PK. That's one I highly suggest! Doug |

Mr. Sutton,
A pull. used to have so much fun with a cigarette pull but those days are gone. Incredi-Go is a pretty good one. Lately (re: when I'm older) I seem to like the boon. R/ Phil |

What do you like best, Todd? Rice's Palmo, Rice's Simplex, Or the Johnson-type with the cloth tape?

I'm a card guy and my favorite utility device is Jeff Kaylor's Any Card to Any Spectator's Wallet (Ultimate Card Control Utility). I have it on me whenever I can - such a great premise and I get so much mileage out of it. Not only does it let you "find" a card in many locations, I find myself using it more often to bring in and take out gaffs from my deck. Would recommend it to anyone.

I really don't have a favorite, as most require being all strung up, and can't remove any clothing after being set. Even taking a TT can be hassle sometimes, I have reached in my pocket several times only to feel a flatten broken piece of plastic in my pocket. Does not matter, front, back, side, jean watch pocket, whatever. They are all in not good solutions.
I love gimmicks and use them in my stand-up, but it for the show only. Nothing is so secure it cannot get knocked out or off. |

Of all the utility devices, I use, the TT is always in my pants pocket.
You can do so many things besides the silk vanish. E.g.: salt pour, goldfish production, Bill switch, dollar to dimes, cig vanish, etc. In all the years, I carried it around, I never broke a single one. Even when doing work around the house and carrying boxes around. Bill, I am surprised you are finding broken pieces in your pocket.

John T Sheets' QB2 ! Always.
And the TT. I have never broken a TT, too. Maybe Bill broke his because of the weather and humidity which may cause the TT to spoil. But I have lost several TTs... with money in it. I wonder the shock in the faces of those who happen to pick it up. |

TT with no doubt.
Speaking of lost or broken TT's. I was swimming off a beach in Costa Rica when my TT departed my shorts. Not realizing I lost it until I was swimming to shore and saw and thumb lapping up against the shore. At first site it freaked me out, until I picked it up and discovered it was my lost TT. Yea I can imagine what a non magician would think. Eric |

Thanks to Jay Scott Berry ... I'm now doing some really nice effects with my dye tube. Start clean and end clean.

Hard to beat the Thumb Tip. I'd second the cigarette pull, but a thumb tip can do that too. At least as far as the spectators are concerned.

For me it's a tie between the TT and IT. Specifically the SPP.
My TT is always in my pants pocket. I never broke one.
