What does your ring charge for a lecture? Our ring just made some changes and I'm wondering g how it compares.

Membership is $25. That includes 2 lectures/year. After that members pay $15/lecture. Guests pay $30/lecture but can apply it to membership (need to perform at 2 meetings before you can join)

Just wondering what others do.

At my Ring there are no free lectures. Lectures are $25.00 each. The good news is that members of our Ring can prepay $50.00 which entitles them to all 5 lectures available throughout the year.

Ray, that sounds like a great idea. It also helps encourage people to attend lectures they might not otherwise (hey, I paid for it, I should go) and lecturers always like a larger crowd.

At Ring 50 -- we don't charge for lectures ... but charge $15 for non-members. Our annual dues are only $15 also...I know we've been giving the store away. But we always get a full house with lecturers anyway...

I like the Ring 50 model as long as there is a way to support the treasury. Unless you have a lot of members or do fundraising of some sort $15 annual dues won't support many lecturers.

I beleive our ring does a annual magic show at a large campground each year. This paid show allows for us to not charge members for lectures. It also features our young magicians and gives them a great opportunity to perform on a proper stage, I think that is great. Non members are $10 I believe so fair and lots turn out for them. My old ring charged for them and had a hard time getting enough members to shell out $25 each time. They did have any more lecturers coming threw though

Yes, It is probably best not to have too many lectures. My ring, Hollywood CA 21, we perform nearly every meeting and we generally don't have more than one or two lectures in a year. Frequently, we combine meetings with other nearby clubs for a lecture. We recently combined with another club to see Pop Haydn, what a treat!
