My mom will be ninety-two this month. Believe it or not, she still works full time - simply because she enjoys it. She also loves music. A couple of years ago she dumped her boyfriend because he couldn't dance.
She's always had a unique, and rather magical, perspective on life. Shortly after she married my Dad (who passed away in 1993), he took her to see a farm as she'd never seen one before. When she saw the chickens, she was amazed that they only had two legs and asked my dad what happened to the other two. She'd never seen a live chicken before and assumed they had four legs because the grocery story sold butchered chickens in packages containing four legs. |

As I got full age, my mom told me how proud she was of me, because I don't make any trouble, are honest and well behaved.
It is not much but it is one of my favourite memories. Sometimes a few words can old so much significnace, that everything else during that moment becomes irrelevant, and this was one such a moment.

When I was 14-15, almost every Sunday for the year before she died, despite chemo and all the rest, my mother drove me to my first regular restaurant gig. Some of our best conversations were on those rides.

All right, I'll play as well. I fondly recall my mother teaching me economics as a kid. That background in the basic principles of the market mechanism put me in a good position relative to my peers and created an intellectual foundation that had put me in a solid position ever since. I'll never forget that my first experiences learning the meaning of geometric curves were supply and demand curves on my mother's knee.

I grew up with my mom being deaf, due to some accident when she was a kid. This year, after my dad retired and they moved, she was able to get a cochlear implant and hear things for the first time in like 50 years. So we were walking around and chatting, when she looked at me confused and explained that she was trying to figure out if her implant was malfunctioning because she kept hearing crunching when she walked. I saw that we were walking over leaves, and the sound she was hearing was a sound I had always taken for granted, the sound of the leaves crumbling under our feet. When I told her what the sound was she started crying, right then and there. I have seen her cry many times, but always because she was sad. This was the first time I had seen her cry because she was that happy. It was an amazing moment.

I began gigging regularly as a musician at the age of 14. My mom used to help me pack up my drums, transport me to my gigs that were an hour away, and then cheer from the audience all night long...many times having to work early the next day, and all because she knew what it meant to me. I love my mom!

My mom was not a very direct or confronting woman when trying to get a point across. So when I sixteen and getting my drivers license, I was being interviewed by the guy who was putting me on their policy for car insurance. He asked me how many miles a month on average I drove. I told him I drive a whole lot, thinking that was a good answer. My mom kicked me in the shin under the table. Weird...but that was a happy moment for me. Strange what stands out in your mind.

Hi Mike,
I remember coming home from school in the spring and smelling fresh-baked apple pie as I approached our house (it's my favorite). My mom always let me have a slice BEFORE dinner because she knew how much I enjoyed it. Regards, Steve

We were at our house sifting through his belongings and my mother came across his rosary. She looked at it, cried softly, and told me that I needed to take it and remember him. I always do remember him and am thankful to her for it.

My favorite effect I ever did for for my mother was deep astonishment, she had always liked my tricks she called them but after performing this effect and telling the story of gypsy and how we choose are fate, but on certain days fate can choose you. I told to think of anyone that she wanted famous or family. She said Carol Burnett of course that is what name was in the gypsy wallet. She Gasped, I think the key way I had her open the wallet and take out the cards. I like to gamble on audience not being to worried about the wallet or other gimmicks. She told me that was the most entertaining thing to had ever done. It was even better than any one she saw at the magic castle a few months before. I was no longer doing tricks I was doing magic.
Felt great. Thanks Tim
