I’m practice spreading the deck between my hands and a spectator return a card in to the spread.
But I don’t have a spectator that can return the card so looking for tips how to do that when you are alone or don’t want to ask the wife to help out for the 100 time that day. So if anyone have any good tips on how to do this I’m all ears. |

Is the reason to be able to control the card once placed in the spread? Why not just spread the cards, hold in place with one hand and place a card in with your other hand. OR are you wanting someone to pick a card from your spread? Classic F###e
What's your reasoning?

For now it’s to get a break on the card inserted to the spread. Sure I can look at a card and say that’s the inserted card but that’s not the same so was thinking if someone had a good idea how to do it.

In all my years, ive never heard of or seen anyone do this. A hand to hand spread with the spectator returning the card into the spread, that is truley a new one for me.

Sorry but Im not after a control technique, Im looking for a way to simulate a person puting a card back in to my Spread and Break Control. As I have the spread between my hands I cant my self put the card back when Im practice. If any have any good ideas how to do that. The only thing I can think of is puting like a blue card in a red deck, do a spread and close it up and try to get a break on the blue card.

It's kinda tough, and I know exactly what you mean when you talk about asking the wife for the millionth time (I'm blessed with a wife that is enthusiastic and willing to help, though sometimes I wonder how she doesn't grow tired). Honestly, I don't think anything anything can substitute for that person putting the card into the deck. Short of constructing a device that will hold and release a card on command (releasing it into your spread), I don't know that this is possible. Though this may be a device purchased by practicing magician's everywhere.

You just have to practise the spread.
It's the spectator's job to practise returning the card. I really don't see what you're trying to achieve... P! |

Shot glass, wine glass, any cup / glass out of your cupboard, outjogged on the edge of a table etc.

Use the corner of a book, have the card sticking out and then push the spread into the card. It works the opposite way too if you want to practice forcing a card.

Your spectator never puts the card flush with the deck.Once they've started putting the card in, your pinch the fan so that the card doesn't go any further. Then, you do whatever you want: *you* put the card flush and take a break the way you want (eg, the crocodile method of Card College), or show the card again and then control it some other way. In other word, all you need, is a fan, and a card sticking out of it. That's the position you will be in, and that you want to be in. There's no taking a break as the spectator puts the card flush in the fan (if that were to happen, it means you made the mistake of choosing a very suspicious person, and that you let him screw you, not using what I wrote just a few sentences earlier). Sorry to say but I don’t have the Card College and I don’t know what crocodile method is. I’m new to card magic and for now it’s just my hobby and I use The Royal Road to Card Magic as the book to learn from for now. In the book there is a spread and break move that I wanted to learn and I did find it hard to train without a spectator so was just asking for some tips on how to train without a spectator that’s all .
