I bought 4 bricks (48 decks) of Tally Ho Circle and Fan-backs and split evenly between red and blue. They were ordered from Kardwell.com. The cards arrived as promised and I looked each brick over (but did not open them yet as I still had a few decks left over from an earliuer purchase from another site several years ago. I do mostly card effects and have gotten quite a bit of practice on my in-the-hands faro. I don't often time myself, but my best time for the full cycle of faros (8x) is just 1 minute and 13 seconds. I am not trying to brag, but rather to explain my familiarity with these cards (Tally Ho). I finally opened one deck the other day and right out of the box I sensed there was something different. The cards felt decidely thinner and flimsier than I was accustomed to. Faro shuffles are nearly impossible to do consistently. I hit maybe 1 in 10, if that. With my old decks, I can do far better than that. I tried emailing kardwell.com, but they tell me that I have failed to read their guarantee, which expires after 30 days. Merde!

Any bright ideas? I feel I have been royally screwed by Kardwell, who are relying on their 30-day rule rather than try to solve my problem. Would it really cost them that much to make it right?

Anyone interested in 47 decks of brand-new Tally Hos? 12 each red fans, blue fans, red circles, and red fans?

Also, I'd be very careful if you are ordering UPCC products and think they are consistent.

No printer can be 100% consistent. It's not Kardwell's fault for selling you cards = they didn't make them

If you want the full 411 watch this - http://tinyurl.com/USPCCcutandfinish

A reputable vendor stands behind any product they sell. Hence Kardwell is NOT a reputable vendor.

How does it benefit anyone who read my posting to watch a video of cards being made? What does this have to do with cards that feel like they were made out of cheap cover-stock that act nothing like the product this formerly-faithful consumer has used for years?

True, Kardwell did not make them, but when I drive my car back to the dealership at which I made the purchase (again, they resell cars, they don't make them) I expect them to repair defects in manufacturing promptly and without charge.

The 'full 411' is that Kardwell, Inc. is failing to do anything for me, and I am out over a hundred bucks and all I have to show for it is lots of crappy cardstock that does not match their earlier work in any way.

"Technically" cards are meant for card games and so your complaint that they don't "handle" like decks you've used in the past, isn't exactly "fixable." Do they work as cards for poker, sollitaire and stud? Of course they do and that's what they are designed for. Cardists use cards in a NEW way, for an art form that they were not originally designed for, it's like you bought a car and took it back to the dealership because it breaks when you jump it off ramps.

Your cards are not "defective" in any way. Your complaint is that Bicycle changed the thickness on their paper stock (which they have no calibration for- all explained in my video if you watched it)

Now, if Kardwell sold you knock-offs that' something else. There are China and Korean based imitations. Is that what you got? Is your deck made in Kentucky? It should say so on the side.

If I were you, I'd take your complaint to the mother ship. Call them: Phone: 800-543-2273

The United States Playing Card Company guarantees the quality of all of its playing card brands. If a manufacturing defect is found in a deck of their Bicycle®, Bee®, Aviator®, Hoyle®, Maverick®, Kem®, Streamline®, Tally-Ho®, Squeezers®, or Congress® playing cards that makes it unusable for normal game play, (again, what you are doing is NOT normal game play, but try your luck and see what they say) and it is returned before it has been extensively used, we will be glad to replace it.

Please include a brief note indicating which kind of deck the defective card(s) came from. Return the Ace of Spades, if present, and the defective card(s) to the below:

Do you work for USPCC? You seem to be defending them as if you were. And not in a good way...rather in a way that says, we didn't make these for you.

BTW, I am still disappointed every time I walk past those four bricks on my shelf. Any product whose specifications change as much as this should note that they have been 'modified', 'improved', 'updated', version 2.0, etc. To sell a product for years that meets certain specs, and then alter that spec without any notification to the consumer is shady in my view. I think that these may be either counterfeit, or due to some mis-calibration at the factory.

I have been in contact with USPCC and they are willing to help, as they appreciate the Tally Ho line's popularity within the magic community. Just trying to warn others like me who will be quite disappointed if they receive inferior stock.

UPDATE!!!
As I was writing this, I got a call from Bill Schildman at USPCC! He will exchange my 4 bricks!!!! Thanks Bill and Monica at USPCC...I just hope the new decks are back to their (formerly) high standard!

Update #2

Just got my replacement and must say it's like night and day. These can be faro'd right out of the box, with a little care...much improved. They even gave me an extra brick to cover the shipping back to Kentucky. Bill and Monica at USPCC were exemplars of customer service, unlike Kardwell.com, who took cover behind their 30-day guarantee. Before someone chimes in with the tired excuse that 'you understood the terms when you bought the (insert item here)' USPCC was under no 'obligation' to make this right, but they have gained a loyal fan, unlike kardwell, who could easily have done the same thing at little cost to their operation...but did not wish to go the extra distance to make me their customer. Many years ago, an employer taught me that someone who buys something from you is a sale. When they return to shop again, they are a customer. He would often tell us: "Your job is doing whatever is needed to turn 'sales into 'customers'."

Bill and Monica understand.

Kardwell blew a simple one. I'm really easy to please, if you treat me like you want me to return.

J...

Not sure why Rocky. Should I thank him for his specious arguments that it was all my fault for buying a product I had used for years and for my being disappointed that the product was distinctly different from what I had been 'trained' to expect? For linking to promotional videos from USPCC? The only helpful thing he did was provide the 1-800 number for USPCC and an address...and repeated the guarantee info printed in every deck of cards they sell.(I had all that already. In fact, the helpful(hardly) folks at Kardwell Inc. did that much when they 'punted' my issue.)

I guess he might have thought he was being helpful, and I guess I am grateful for that.
